Wrider how can you expect anything more from Discount tire, belle tire, etc etc? All they hire are incompetent monkeys that after they sell you tires try to tell you that the brand new rotors/pads you just installed need to be replaced.

So looks like the economy took a crapper today again. Well ok at least the stock market did. I lost $40,000 last 2 days.

Had the day off so coffee with friends at 7am and then a ride from central florida to Clearwater and back on the back roads, about 125 miles. Too hot for golf.

Lemme guess, 48RE? Stupid manual valve bodies! Although once they're built they're about the best truck tranny out there!

There are riots today all over London, including in MY neighbourhood! So Andrea came home from work early to avoid them as her company ordered a shut down and emergency evacuation.

This photo was taken about 5 miles away from me:

:( These riots are so disapointing!!:(

Not because they are happening as I strongly believe that in a democratic society there should be the right to protest..........but these rioters seem to be feckless opportunists just out to gain advantage for themselves ie looting.

Surely with all the bad things in the world they would at the very least have a cause :? :?

The only positive result is that it will severely rattle the smug attitude of our present government.

I DO feel sorry for the individuals who have losdt businesses & homes.

You should see it hooked up to my 35' trailer...rediculous!! but three kids, two dogs, wifey, bikes...I wanted lots of room for the longer road trips...and with the diesel engine getting 11L/100kms (25.6mpg(imp)~21.4mpg(US)), it's better than most small trucks...I luv my diesel!!

and yes the trans is a 48RE...2nd gear is almost completely gone (previous owner had a chip in it without doing any beefing up...over torqued lots of stuff in the driveline)...I'm having them use an aftermarket upgrade kit to rebuild it so that if I decide to chase more power I don't wreck anything...

As for being the best, they are based on the Torque Flite 727 three speeds so they are pretty good...but an Allison Trans is probably the best truck trans out there...GM does have something to brag about there!!

But this just gives me more of an excuse to be riding my bike...need to do some maintenance tonight...lube chain and check tension...a bath probably wouldn't hurt!!

Later.

I agree on the MPG! My Dakota with the 4.7 gets around 16.5 in town and 19 on the highway. Which is abysmal compared to your truck, which weighs almost twice as much, is higher, and can tow a ton more!

And doc, I take that as a compliment! I'll PM you the reason as it's not appropriate for this forum.
