A buddie of mine had a Nighthawk in high school, I was quite jealous of him (except when winter came) Great bike!!

Thanks mates. I'll be logging as many hours as possible while it's still warm!

Just my 2C

Riding is as much a mental process as it is a physical one. If you are the kind of guy that has committed to a learning process and you do that process strictly and controlled, well then you will be getting the best out of that bike in a very short time.

it is the temptation of "lets see what she can do, or time for top end burst, or a I am sure I can keep up with that guy" that will get you in trouble. You sound like a chilled down to earth guy. So here's my rules for you

You have nothing to prove to anyone, including your self
If you are not enjoying your riding in your comfort zone, then you are doing it wrong

Obey rules 1 and 2

have fun, cool bike.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Very nice bike, especially for the money! Ride safe, and keep the shiny side up! (Oh and good name BTW).
