haha....I asked around today to find out if there was a water tower anywhere. There is a water tower in White Rock. (a town near by) However...it looks like Mike beat me to it. He posted an awesome ancient water tower from England.

I would have gone tomorrow if not for Mike........ :)

Ride to Horseshoe Bay and Britannia Beach Sunday August 14, 2011

Posted on August 15, 2011 by Urban Rider | Edit

My friend and I rode our motorcycles to Horseshoe Bay for lunch. We stopped in at the Olive and Anchor. I give them my vote for one of the best burgers in the lower mainland. Never mind waiting in the line up at Troll’s. Walk a few doors down and have lunch at the Olive and Anchor.

After lunch we rode to Britannia Beach so we could get coffee at Galileo’s. We sat down for a coffee and I bought a bag of beans to bring home.

Starbuck’s could learn a thing or two from Lance the owner and coffee roaster there at Galileo’s. If you are heading up the Sea to Sky and are in the mood for decent cup of coffee, then pull into Galileo’s for a stop on the way.

They close at 3 PM.

In case you are interested to know…..

I have no affiliation with either businesses. I just like them.

I have vacation time coming up next month. I sure can use a holiday....and I got a brand new passport.

If the weather is dry I want to go on a photography/riding road trip. If the weather does not look "safe"...I can go in my car...or...I can fly somewhere.....

So many places, decent amount of time.....where to go/what to do?

Should I go east through the rockies? south along 101? south east hwy 2/20?

Decisions, decisions.....

I was looking up photgraphy workshops but they are so costly. I decided to just take my own photos and critque them myself later.

How about a mini cruise? I have never been on a cruise.

I'll decide at the last minute.......

Maybe I can ride somewhere and ship my bike back and fly home.....it would solve my problems of the chronic hip/back pain issues if I rode too far and then did not feel up to riding home.

I guess I'll ponder it some more......

My friend finally got a new motorcycle. He has the first one in western Canada. It is a 2012 Yamaha Super Tenere.

Although a long time rider, he had been riding a Honda CBR 125 for a while due to it being affordable. Anyway...once he saw the new Super Ten in my motorcycle magazine he was hooked.
He went to the dealer and paid a deposit. Yamaha was building them only with a deposit being paid.

Then the big earthquake/sunami happened and nothing was being shipped. It got delayed so long they offered a refund of the deposit or some incentives if he still wanted to wait. He waited.....

It finally arrived a few weeks ago. I haven't seen much of him since.
That is not entirely true...we have been on a couple rides.

Next week he and his buddy will be on a motorbike camping trip.

Have you tried it? I sat on one at the New York show in January, it felt very similar to my V-strom. Nice upright standard riding position.

You probably don't want to hear it, but I can't help thinking the "chronic hip/back pain issues" you mention are not helped by the cruiser bikes you favor. Mrs. & I had a cruiser, a '04 Suzuki Marauder 800, for a couple years. Never again; we both like standards. There's no way in heck I could ride for extended periods with my legs out in front of me without 3 or 4 areas of my body in serious pain.

Well, just my $.02 and something to think about....
2003 Triumph Trophy 1200
2009 BMW F650GS (wife's)
2012 Triumph Tiger 800
2018 Yamaha XT250 (wife's)
2013 Kawasaki KLX250S

I haven't had a chance to try it yet. He has offered though.

It never occured to me that riding my cruiser may be a bad thing for me. I'll see how I feel when I get a chance to ride something else again.

My new favourite picture. Aside from the fact that the photograph is good....composition, lighting....I love the mystery of the man. I find it very appealing. I don't know who took the picture. I just came cross it on google.
man walking away from mc.jpg
It must be nice to have a crew and the ability to secure an area for a shot like this. If I were to find an alley with brick walls downtown, I'd be sharing it with pan handlers, homeless people and druggies.

Anyway.....I just really like this image.
