kawasaki z1000

#1 Unread post by Markg1 »

Okay everybody I found a 2009 Kawasaki z1000 with 2500 miles in great condition. They are asking $5000 for it. Is that too much? I did not take it for a test ride but I did sit on it and it was light compared to my Vmax and Vrod. Is it a good bike? Does it handle well? Has anybody ever owned one or taken one for a ride? I know it's faster than my Vrod but how would it compare to my Vmax? Opinions...

Thanks
Mark

Well it's not governed as low as the VMax so it'll be faster in the top end, but in the 1/4 your VMax will still beat it. It will definitely handle better than either of your current bikes though. It's got some frame/geometry differences, but it's basically a naked ZX-10R. Won't handle quite as well as one, but for almost anyone (read: anyone that isn't taking their ZX-10 to the track regularly), you won't notice much handling difference at all.

Assuming the bike's in good condition, $5K is a steal. I think it's a 2010 model though, don't think there's such a thing as a 2009 Z1000?

Thanks guys, I found out more about this bike. It's a 2006 ZR1000. He wants $4500. The only reason that I want to buy it is to resell. I'm not sure what the difference between a z and a zr. I'm also not sure what the market is for used bikes. What do you guys think?

AFAIK there isn't a ZR1000. I think he's referencing a ZRX-1200? Or perhaps a Z750R?
Sounds like the dude doesn't even know what he owns.

There was a Z1000 in 2006. $5K is too much according to Kelly Blue Book for a '06, look it up yourself. Not a whole lot of these for sale in your area, so it's hard to get a sense of the market independent of KBB.

About the ZR1000 vs Z1000, I believe it is just a mistaken name, it should be Z1000. There are ZR models, but not in 2006.
