Length of Ride

#21 Unread post by RocketGirl »

So far this year, our weekend rides have been in the 100+ mile range. This is an increase by about 40-miles from the previous year [both hubby and I were first year newbies in 2008].

Today, the weather has finally turned warm enough for me 50-degrees F (AM) and 80-degrees F (PM) and I commuted to/from work the first time this season. That's about 50-miles total for the whole commute.

I voted 20-50 miles because my "average" ride is to work, and that's about a 25 mile trip. On the weekends I average 100+.

I ride about 100 to 150 miles with wife on back. We stop somewhere for lunch and a beverage. I have a friend who rides with his buddies in Oregon and they generally ride 500 miles on average. This summer they plan a ride from Oregon to Maine. One of the riders is 71 and he rides an old Harley with 175,000 on it. Wow! I don't have the stamina for this kind of riding any more. Thought about riding to Montana but decided to re-think this 1200 mile trip (one way). Okay...I'm a Woosie.

I used to commute, and that was about 100 miles a day, but around the time I turned 60 I started to cut back down a bit, so now it is usually in the 20 to 50 mile range in town and country, but on a good day I may go for 2 rides, and every once in a while I still do 100+ miles.

the GS is 2.3 Meters
the R1200R is 2.1 Meters and the
scooter is 2 Meters so the average must be

I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now

Here in London UK, I find riding much different than riding back in Canada, my rides are shorter as they are more stressful and it's much harder to get "away" from the traffic. So I'd guess about 1 hour is my usual ride out.

It's brilliant that you can filter (lane-split) here, I'll miss that back in Canada.

To be honest, mine are so varied, It's why I love Marshaling so much. This weekend I get to ride 500 kms to do a time trail on Saturday and a 120KM race and then ride home.

A month back I did another cycle race was only 60km. My trips to clients can be anything from a 30 k round trip to 200 km round trip
