The Daytona 675 SE is mechanically identical to the standard 2009 Daytona 675, which has received praises worldwide by winning several road and track-based tests against its competitors.

The race-bred machine utilizes a 126bhp three-cylinder engine and the very latest chassis technology, including a highly sophisticated and adjustable front and rear suspension. Riders can adjust both high and low speed compression damping to obtain unparalleled levels of control that are suited to both spirited street and track riding as well as compliance for rough road surfaces. New radial-mount Nissin monobloc front brakes give tremendous stopping power while the latest Pirelli SuperCorsa SP tires give outstanding levels of grip and feedback.

A most blatant and shameless copy of the '03-'06 Honda CBR600RR with some newer CBR influence and Yamaha R6 elements thrown in. From a company that came out with a design as innovative as the Speed Triple (yes that was a copy too, from the riders in Britain who created streetfighters out of crashed Suzuki GSX-Rs but it took quite a vision and guts to put someting like that into production).

I see that the new Triumph Tiger is a blatant shameles copy of the BMW as well! You can't even tell them apart at first glance. I do not like the direction the design department of this company is going. Not only are they blatantly copying other manufacturers, they ruined the Speed Triple's iconic headlights.

You make some very good (and debateable) points! I almost fell off my chair when I read "fail" as I didn't expect that in the voting at all... but fair enough points for saying so.

I think a lot of bikes are slight copies of each other today, it's hard to product a completely unique bikes (say the Honda DN-01, and we know how that did and even then it was a "copy" of the alligator). The Japanese started off copying Harley-Davidson style back in the late 70's for their first "cruisers" and still do a little today. But the Daytona 675 isn't a Chinese rip off either, it's just influenced, as you say, but some of the most successful bikes ever sold.

Just perfect. Perfectly sized, unique engine configuration, and not ridiculously priced (at least compared to Italian exotica). Only thing better would be the same engine in the Street Triple R.

I wonder if Triumph will bring back their automotive production again, it's not uncommon for motorcycle makes to make cars as well.. ie, Honda, Suzuki... even KTM...

Now a Ducati car, that would be interesting too...

The Japanese started off copying Harley-Davidson style back in the late 70's for their first "cruisers" and still do a little today.

The Japanese didn't really copy HD back in the late 70s. Nobody copied Harleys back then as practically nobody bought Harleys back then. The japanese "customs" then were still copies of British bikes (Yamaha XS parallel twin) or they were unique (Kawasaki LTD inline 4s). The customs that they built in the 80s and early 90s were mostly influenced by what the riders in Japan and America were building from their bikes (Honda Magnas & Shadows). Contrary to what many people believe, these were not "bothched" Harley copies that were failed attempt to capture the American look. They were not trying to copy Harley (Harley was not still selling very well at this time, just getting back on their feet. No need to copy something that does not sell well). These japanese customs sold quite well. In fact the japanese customs like the Honda Shadow of the mid 80s have a unique and highly appealing look to my eyes. Then of course Harley became very popular in the early 90s. This is when the Japenese started building cruisers that were highly influenced by HD and still do to this day.

The fact remains it is an almost identical copy of the CBR. Its similarities would almost make the Chinese blush.
The new Tiger might even be worse. Probably is because the looks of the BMW GS is so unique that to copy something that unusual makes the "crime" even worse.

Yes agreed that the triple is a great engine and it was smart of them to not compete directly with the japanese Four with a 600 four as Triumph would have gotten their a$$es handed to them. The "cheater" displacement was originally done by Kawasaki however. Speaking of triples, Triumph has a new competition however in the form of MV Augusta with their F3.

I actually love the look of the "Wedge", the terrible Buick engine notwithstanding.
