but is it that different from a Triumph Bonneville? Last year's Steve McQueen edition...
If I want a Triumph, I'd get a Triumph...wheres the big styling effort here? Yeah, yeah the engine is mounted different...and yeah, that's why it got the cool vote and I do like the style of the bike, but it isn't different enough to get me to want to buy one.

but is it that different from a Triumph Bonneville
Well, I think there is quite a difference myself. The Bonneville (this edition) is more "manly" and rugged vs the Italian styling of the V7. I like both of them myself but for much different reasons.
The Triumph and Moto Guzzi look like two completely different bikes to me, too. Different engines, different final drive, and the Triumph is a bigger beast. I like low maintenance and the biggest wallop a little bike can pack. This Italian beauty has these things written all over it.
Worth noting: I will never be interested by a bike bigger than a 750. Ever. So finding gorgeous, fun bikes in my size preference is always exciting.
With the longitudinal engine, it sort of looks like the rural cousin of a triumph bonneville, but in a good way. It seems like a practical little bike, but there's nothing about it that makes it particularly interesting.
