Re: This week: 2013 BMW R1200R: Vote Today
Always had an inkling I would get one of these, so when the time came for a shop around last year, I did the homework, did the rounds and still ended up coming back to this bike. Sure you can nitpick, until you ride one that is, then everything else is forgiven. I have been a GS fan for a long time, but this bike can do just about everything the GS can with one noticeable difference. In naked guise, it feels quick, the acceleration from the twin cam motor is mind blowing. Not as quick as a Busa, ZX14 or K12, but it feels like it is. Even with the bikini screen you can happily cruise all day at 180kmh. Really comfortable and no fork dive like the supers.
Cornering, the machine is far more capable than most riders and inspires confidence, comfortable and the fuel economy is the best i have had on any litre plus bike.
As for the price, I go the touring package with bikini screen, heated grips ASC, ESA and tyre pressure monitor and full computer, worth every cent.
Only one vote from me
AWESOME.

I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Re: This week: 2013 BMW R1200R: Vote Today
I voted: Awesome
I was going to go with Cool, but you know, every time a BMW R1200R (or R1150R) pulls up beside me I just have to look at it. It's my type of bike, naked, aggressive and stylish, but I can never get over the boxer cylinders sticking out horizontally. Maybe it's just me but they stick out too much, don't they?
Other than that, what a nice bike. It is a little pricy, but then, it is a BMW. I'd go with a blue or red one...the classic BMW blue/white/red of the 2011 BMW F800R or even the milky white/red of the 2012 BMW F800R would have me.
Glad to see the BMW doesn't think Naked is dead and updated this model again.

What he said!Mithrandir wrote:It looks great. The only negative I notice with the motorcycle is the price.
Is ~$14,000 a fair price for this motorcycle?

Re: 2013 BMW R1200R - Coolness Factor = 82.7%
Your Coolness Factor of the 2013 BMW R1200R is..
Awesome (3 points) 58% [ 23 ]
Cool (2 points) 33% [ 13 ]
Uncool (1 point) 10% [ 4 ]

Commentary: Wow, well done BMW! A coolness factor of 82.7% is nothing to sneeze at! There are a few details that riders here feel BMW could work out (colors, part aesthetics, small details) but nothing major. Oh and the price, just a little less please BMW.
Next bike is now up for voting on, have fun!!

I'm not positive but it seems as the vast majority of the bikes that are put up on coolwall are standards.Grey Thumper wrote:Looks like the Total Motorcycle community sure does like its standards.totalmotorcycle wrote:Just finished putting this bike up on our 2013 Cool Wall list and it's #2!

Standards are up there for sure, but then again, it's the market that is voting and they are voting for more standards.HYPERR wrote:I'm not positive but it seems as the vast majority of the bikes that are put up on coolwall are standards.Grey Thumper wrote:Looks like the Total Motorcycle community sure does like its standards.totalmotorcycle wrote:Just finished putting this bike up on our 2013 Cool Wall list and it's #2!

As for the vast majority of bikes being standards on the cool wall? I wish they made 150 different standard models (that's around the amount of bikes that have appeared on the cool wall in the past 3 years). But really, only about 1/8th of the bikes available are standards (or less) as that's all there really are out there. As always, the Cool Wall Suggestion thread is always open and I do put them up as suggested.

It would also be great if BMW would fix their shaft drive problems.
