spuddering and popping

:? spuddering and popping when giving throttle, have already cleaned carbs and checked boots can anyone give me some advice on what to check next. :frusty:

Well I guess you could check your coils, plug wires,and plugs. Have you done anything like cut down the baffles to it?

Stock exhaust? If you changed exhaust did you jet the carbs? Ground issue? Voltage issue?

havent done anything different it was running fine then all of a sudden it just started running like crap, so i cleaned the carbs bc it had some trash in the tank, didnt make any difference. i also installed a in line filter, after it still didnt help i uninstalled the filter, still no difference.

i will check for ground issues, and last year i put new coils and the pickup on the crankshaft. also it reved fine a couple of times yesterday then back to the same crud.

Sounds to me that the carbs are not clean. I know you cleaned them, but did you clean out all the jets and passageway. That happens when there's trash in the tank.

well i cleaned the carbs again this time really took my time and made sure it was clean and still no change, could a loose timing chain be the problem.

Have you got a manual? What does it (the service manual) say to check?

i noticed some backfiring back through one carb when trying to rev yesterday. the manual says to check ignition timing, plugs and wires. im thinking i may have a valve sticking, could this be the problem?
