The styling of Japanese cruisers back then were very unique and they looked great! :kicking: Nothing like the cookie cutter chopper wannabes being produced by Harley and other manufacturers today.

And, of course, I'm trusting after that beautiful V7 Stone.
I really loved the looks of the Magna series myself as well and owned a V30 Magna for a very short time. Now I own a V7 Stone and love it to bits. Go Guzzi :D

So it's amazing the way seeing a bike in person can change your feelings about it COMPLETELY.

I went through a six month love affair with the V-Max, then I saw one in person and realized just how small they are. I've been over them ever since.

And the flip-side of that -- Carrie and I both have seen the Triumph Rocket III here on TMW and never really took an interest...

Then we saw one of these in the parking lot of a local grocery store yesterday and we're HOOKED.

I know exactly what you are going through. I also fell in love with the V-Max (gen 1, not Gen 2) and still look at them very fondly, but they are just too small to fit me (and so is Gen 2 to my disappointment). The Rocket III is a very underappreciated roadster, it's excessiveness it what defines it... it's too much in engine, too much weight, too wide, too bulky but somehow it just works... unfortunately for me, I may have the height and space to ride it, but I the bulk of the bike makes me look like a toothpick on it. But it's hard for me to not love a naked bike full of engine. :D

I've read a great review about it in the UK and I remember the line (I'm paraphrasing here) "Every motorcyclist needs to experience riding a Rocket III in their lives, even if it's on their bucket list, as there is nothing else like it on two wheels".

I feel you on the excessiveness part, Carrie and I have a tough time because the only bike we've found that fits nicely in the in-between zone is the Shadow 1100, the next nearest is the Boulevards with their 90s and we consider that just a tad too big. But now here we are looking at a 2.3, LoL...

Anyone know what kind of fuel mileage those Rocket IIIs get?
