Smell of hot metal after riding motorcycle

#1 Unread post by kawasaki_kid19 »

I recently tore the engine down for a welding job to get done on my bike. Now, after each of my rides on my KLX 300, there is a hot metal smell mainly coming from the case. Is this something to be concerned about? What is the difference between the engine being damaged and burning something versus regular engine heat? Anyone have experience with this, or advice on what to look for? I'm assuming it is just oil, grease, coolant, etc. getting burned off but I'd like to be prepared for the future. Thank you! :cowboy:
