Could this be the new 2006 Yamaha R6?

Indeed it is.

Saw this picture on another HP and there were some paparazzies too of a blue version. So it has to be the real deal.

Yamaha's US web site did have details about the 06 R6, but the links have now been removed and the link that it was takes you to the 05 model page.

The Canadian web site has a link that works, although they have also removed links on their site, and according to the details it has a slipper clutch and electronic throttle control:

thats the craziest looking license plate holder bracket dealy, looks very out of place and last minute fix.
