I tried so-called "ultra-soft" terry cloth and microfiber, which both claim they won't scratch painted surfaces, but sure enough, both leave tiny little swirl scratches every time i use them.
what do you guys use?
also, i tried "scratch off" which claims to remove scratches and restore shine, but it does neither. maybe that's because i'm using scratching cloth to apply it.
What kind of cloth won't scratch?

I second chamois ... or if your water is low in mineral content, you might use a hair dryer or similar to blow dry the bike. (Only works if your water doesn't leave mineral deposits)
How about waxing? If you have a coat of wax on the paint, you won't have to worry about it scratching from the cloths.
