What kind of cloth won't scratch?

#1 Unread post by jfeaz »

I tried so-called "ultra-soft" terry cloth and microfiber, which both claim they won't scratch painted surfaces, but sure enough, both leave tiny little swirl scratches every time i use them.

what do you guys use?

also, i tried "scratch off" which claims to remove scratches and restore shine, but it does neither. maybe that's because i'm using scratching cloth to apply it.

I second chamois ... or if your water is low in mineral content, you might use a hair dryer or similar to blow dry the bike. (Only works if your water doesn't leave mineral deposits)

How about waxing? If you have a coat of wax on the paint, you won't have to worry about it scratching from the cloths.

I one saw a professional waxing shop on TV. And the guy explained that the best way to treat a paint ti to buff it with wax and instead of using wool as a buffer he strongly recommended the foam type for some reason.

Waxig does protect your paint!

felt works well, try getting you hands on the lens cleaning cloths for eyeglasses. That works really well too, the only problem you can only get small swatches of that stuff.
