Fred Phelps is a nutbar. What he does is harrassment and isn't harrassment against the law?

Minority religion, U.S. style - never ceases to amaze.

IMHO, full-on military-style funerals are just one more sick glorification of the slaughter that is going on in Iraq and elsewhere, so, if I'm honest, I don't have much time for them myself. BUT, why target greiving families? They are still funerals. This guy just sounds deranged and vindictive to me.

Still, maybe it is just part of the general ideological sickness that allows all this intolerance to flourish in the first place.

My penny's worth.

Yeah, I've followed the story of Rev Phelps. I was totally stoked about the news that one of his so called 'protests' was broken up by a group of bikers. It made me proud to ride a motorcycle. Although I don't support our Iraq war, I support our troops and the men and women of our military who are doing a good job considering what they've been handed. This bizarre behavior by Rev Phelps and his sicko followers is a travesty of justice. Where is the dignity and respect for our fallen heros? Fortunately, the vast majority of American's know what Phelps is doing is morally wrong. Its not just because I'm gay.... that's besides the point. If Phelps comes my way.. I'm afraid I'm going to lose control of my bike while riding past him... I just hope I don't injure him

We had a young soldier from our town die last month. His funeral was March 6. The phelps-nuts had us listed on their agenda and had planned to protest.
The Patriot Guard Riders showed up en masse. I was unable to attend, as I was out of town, but from what I hear, the PGR made a GRAND showing, with hundreds of bikers coming.
The phelps scum never showed. Smart move on their part. They would have gotten their bottoms kicked a hundred different ways.

The local newspaper has put together a slideshow, if anyone is interested.

How this Phelps jerk is still alive, I'll never know. The men and women risking and giving their lives for us deserve the ultimate respect and admiration.
