How do you patch a leak in the tank?

I've never done this before so I'm trying to figure out the best way to go. It's two leaks, one about a drop a minute, the other a few drops a second. What's the best method of fixing them? Sand the area then cover it with JB weld?

You might want to treat the inside of your tank. Kreem I think thats how you spell it works good. Its like teflon coating. Good luck Bobdog

Yeah, problem is that this tank looks like it has a por tank sealant... I need to find some way to remove that first, then do a better job than the guy before me.

I've also been told that Kreem is crap and breaks up when you put a carb/fuel system cleaner in with the gas clogging your carbs (or hopefully your inline fuel filter!). Can anyone confirm or deny?... no scratch that- focus on helping me patch the tank.

Might wanna check eBay or a salvage yard for a better tank, otherwise you'll need to thoroughly clean it and take it to a welder so he can tack it closed.

I've known too many people (including myself) who have put in liners only to have them clog up the carbs inside of a couple of years. I'd get a new tank or have it welded.

A new tank isn't an option now. There aren't any salvage yards nearby, there's nothing on ebay and I'm not dropping $500+ on a tank.

It's only a pinhole leak, you guys don't think that something like a JB weld fix will work?

I understand that a welder's going to cost me over $200 and that's not that appealing to me either. Is there anything else that will seal a hole for a bit?

I'm not suggesting you buy a welder, though Wal-Mart does carry a few light-duty units for $125.00. Isn't there a weld shop nearby that would tack it for a decent price?

No that's what I meant, I was told that taking it to a weld shop would cost me greater than $200.
