Help me fix my 1991 GSFBandit.

#1 Unread post by blake10722 »

I have a 1991 GSF400 Bandit. I have had the bike for well over a year now but the damn never ran. I had it up for a day or two but then something else. I had a guy re build the carbs, I but a new CDI in and new coils as well. At this point I really just watn someone who know what they are doing to help me get the bike on the road. I am willing to pay some one to come out and help me. I live in Glover Park in DC directly behind the Russian Embassey. It is getting nice out there and I can't stand to see the bike sitting and rotting.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What is it doing?

Hi blake10722,

What's the bike doing? Does it turn over at all?

Could be something as simple as spark plugs or cables.

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

It is not the plugs etc.

What happened is that the bike ran but leaked fule from the place were the fule line went into the carb bodies. I replaced the rubber piece but for some reason the damn thing won't run. I can get it going on carb cleaner/starter fluid and it will turn over. If anyone is willing to help me out I can deffinalty pay you for your time. I just don't want to stop riding before I ever start. Thanks again guys. This is one of the best forums I have ever belonged to on any topic. I guess it has something to do with biking culture so to speak.

Blake, I'd be happy to give it a look. I live in Annandale but I get into D.C. from time to time. Send me an email at slongstreet@gmail.com and we'll get you set.

I've talked to Blake via email. I was apparently the guy who turned him onto this site! Makes an old (23) guy proud.

Yeah, it sounds like the guy who "cleaned" his carb did a poor job. I'll give it a go on Monday night and see if I can get Blake on the road. 400cc inline four with ~50 horses. Sounds like a fun bike to drop around, maybe he'll even let me ride it
