and my wife is kool with it, it takes up alot of space in the kitchen but i begged and pleaded with her so long to let me get one that god forbid it gets stolen she knows she would never hear the end of it

Well, I live on the 2nd floor with no elevator. Would it be possible to lug a bike up the stairs everynight? If you think so I'd be willing to do it, but I see it being very diffiult to pull something 300 pounds up the stairs every night.

pulling it up the stairs may not work, but depending on the bike, your skill and how much you value your apartment you could ride it up the stairs

yea that sux, luckily i am on the first floor and i just ride it up over the curb and park next to the door
Hi all I just very recently got an 05 Ninja 250 and have been lurking around on the forums here for a while. I live in Philly and currently keep it outside by some bike racks with a cover on it (so people don't play with it, sit on it, knock it over...which has already happened once when I left it out without the cover on).
Anyway I am moving to New York soon and I was wondering where people kept their bikes in the city. Do the cops care if you leave them outside on the sidewalk? Are most people respectful of the bikes or do they mess with it? I most likely won't ride it in the city for transportation (dangerous!!), just for fun on the weekends, but that means it will be sitting outside on the sidewalk for days at a time...so it'd be great to get any information from NY observers! Thanks!

id like to think 99% of people that walk near your bike would leave it alone completely. however, whenever you have several thousand dollars invested in something that sits in plain view of the general public every night while you sleep, youd probably be better off assuming the worst of people.
