If you have a friend who works in sales, or is a good negotiator take them with you. Let them do the arguing back and forth, it could help you out. The toughest thing is going in with the mindset of being ready to walk away.

Don't tell them it's from Oregon, just let them know it's the invoice.

They'll probably knwo where you got it anyways.
Verm, you've got to haggle. Spend an hour there haggling with them, and at the end of it if they're not budging just walk out. Go to another dealership, not the end of the world.
Right but before you walk out make sure that they have your phone number so the supervisor can call you as you're about to leave the parking lot because he 'just got the go ahead from his boss'.

What does it matter to them where the invoice is from anyway, the bike should cost the same if its in oregon or Cali. even if you have to go a few hours to get a new bike verm, its worth the gas money to a buddy or what ever if you end up saving hundreds of dollars. The dealer wants your buisness, theyll move, if you just go ahead and pay their price, they win. *L

Bring someone who can haggle if your not comfortable doing it. I saved about 2000 bucks on my new cage and got 500 bucks of free gas plus 1000 bucks of options and 750 more for my trade in because I brought my haggle lovin buddy.

yeah, that's how i got them to lower the price when i got my previous 1000. it wasn't a super good deal but at least i didn't fall for the freight and handling fees.

anyway... this time though it will be harder for me to walk away since im itching so bad to own and ride another bike.

Doesn't matter. You have all the power to lower the price. You just have to have the will power to do it. Do you wanna save a thousand or so bucks and wait a day or three or pay it all and ride that day?

If only there was an instant chat option...in the last 5 minutes I've gotten so many emails about replies to this topic.

I know the bike you want is a lot more popular than my Shadow, so I'm not sure how that'll affect the dealership playing hardball. One trick I've used in the past is used my cell phone to call a friend, while I'm at the dealership and pretend that he's another dealership. I purposely let them hear this conversation, and then tell them I'm getting a better deal there. I've walked out and been pulled back in as I was getting into my car, and gotten the deal I was asking for the last time I did it.

Unfortunately, not a great time of year for it. 'least, not around here (New Jersey). Bikes are flying out of my two local dealerships.
