$9,499 OTD for a GSX-R600 K6

#1 Unread post by VermilionX »

so im shopping around for the next bike and got this quote.

its MSRP is $8,799.

what do you guys think?

i also called the dealer than i got my previous bike and they said they'll try to match it and if they do, i'll buy from them again. they also said they do lojack now on their service dept so i'll do all of those plus frame sliders, spools, etc. then i'll haggle to lower the price more since i'll be getting all those extras.

$700 ABOVE MSRP? Sounds like too much to me. Price of the bike should be below MSRP if they intend to add all those extra charges.

California state tax is 8% so that's already $700 right there.

and since it's OTD, then that includes everything including the license and resgistration etc.

does it still seem too much?

Yeah. I've never bought a bike from a dealer but when I got my Honda Civic LX (manly man's car right there) the sticker was $15,600 or something like that and we were out the door with tax/title/etc for $15,000.

Haggle my boy, HAGGLE!

That should all be done at the DMV.

You're OTD quote contains the bike and their fees. Go to cyclebuy.com and get the invoice amount. Offer them that + ~$200 and leave ~$300 wiggle room. You can generally get it OTD for at leaced $1k less than MSRP.

That should all be done at the DMV.

Not when you buy from a dealership.

edit: or maybe I'm misunderstanding you...

i went to cyclebuy but they are charging me money to see the dealer invoices.

plus, it's in OR? Oregon? i doubt i can use that to haggle here in SoCal.

Dealer invoice is dealer invoice, period. They pay the same $$ to Suzuki for the bikes regardless of what state they're in. And think about it, for the price of 2 burritos, you have enormous haggling power that could save you hundreds because you know EXACTLY how much that dealer paid for the bike including freight, setup credits, and all the other BS fees they try to nail you on.

You want a $10K bike, you're looking at $400 helmets, and you don't want to spend $13 ?

*rolls eyes*

Verm, you've got to haggle. Spend an hour there haggling with them, and at the end of it if they're not budging just walk out. Go to another dealership, not the end of the world.
