Maybe it me but it seems my ninja 250 starts better and runs cold better on higher octane 93, every once in a while ill run it out to the track to pick up some 105, it seems to make it run even smoother when cold, and i like the smell, but 6.00 a gallon turns me off.

I use Premium and so does my spousette . Either Shell which is closest or I go to my 76 station which I prefer .
All the new bikes we build at work have a label on the tank stating that they require 91 octane or better .
And that is regardless of the size engine .
Best regards, Wizzard

Mid Range 89 octane...Very few motorcycles require premium...maybe once you get into a S&S 125 cubic incher or something really big, with high compression. Most manufactures list 87 octane in their owner manual.
87 octane is $2.92 today. It jumped 20 cents this morning.
