Re: This week: 2010 Buell 1125R: Vote Today
I really wanted to give this bike at least a cool vote, since I generally find Buells awesome. The Lightning, Ulysses, all the way to the old Thunderbolt and Cyclone, were some of my favorite bikes. I love how truly surprising, unique, and radically engineered BuelIs are. I just can't seem to get around the looks of the 1125R though, especially that bulbous, heavy-looking fairing. Uncool.

I must admit I am not a fairing guy at all but I will say this the design is one of the quietest I have ever been behind and it works great. Thats the secret with all Buells the wierd little quirks that don't seem to conform with the norm that WORK GREAT
.

Not a big fan of the look, but the handling is horrible giving it a fail in my book. I've ridden three separate ones (one brand spanking new) and the handling compares to an 80's V-max. It's not at all what I would expect from a sport style motorcycle.

Thats a first to each his own, I love the handling of a Buell all of them handle great!! I think the XB is the best of them though.
No matter I just heard today Hero bought 49% of EBR so I am out I don't want an Indian made $20,000 motorcycle and my CR is gonna be worthless soon so I am out and gonna buy either a Verseys if I have to keep the CR or a Triumph Tiger.

Not sure why you think the Hero move is such a bad thing? Erik still retains controlling interest in EBR, and this gives him the funds he needs to get EBR to the next level. I didn't see anything that hinted production of EBR premium bikes would be moved to India. And with a little clever brand management, it won't even dilute the EBR brand.BRUMBEAR wrote:No matter I just heard today Hero bought 49% of EBR so I am out I don't want an Indian made $20,000 motorcycle and my CR is gonna be worthless soon so I am out and gonna buy either a Verseys if I have to keep the CR or a Triumph Tiger.
BTW, I never could get past the appearance of the original 1125. But I know nothing else about the bike at all, so I'll abstain - don't want to vote uncool just on looks.

Spectacular bikes ....but I loved the CR naked more ....The fairing on the R is a bit awkward and seems to sit up too high. Voted Cool none the less.
I remember how CHEAP these things were when Buell shut down... you could get them for thousands off sticker and I wanted one soooo badly but was not in the financial position to do so at the time. I think I remember working on a deal to get one from a dealer for around $8500 .....list was $12,000 or something.
I have a friend who still has a first year model (black with steel blue frame) , great machine.

Re: This week: 2010 Buell 1125R: Vote Today
I went with: Awesome
Well, it's an Awesome vote for Buell, a cool one for the 1125R. I never really liked the front end of the 1125R either, not quite sure the design aspects behind it, maybe it was just too advanced for me to get it? But I really liked the Eric did with the engines, frame (fuel in it) and swing arm (oil in it), what a great idea. Also Eric created Buell from his passion of motorcycles. Harley-Davidson offered to support his dream and the two forged some neat bikes together (I've always wanted the Lightning XB12Scg (it is fits a taller person a little better) http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2 ... B12Scg.htm but never got around to affording one at the time.
Overall, while I have no desire to own a 1125R, I do respect it and those that went the path of buying one and thus supporting Eric's dream. While I didn't buy one of his bikes, I did my best to help him out. Even today I chat over email with Eric Buell himself and talk about his passion at EBR. I'm secretly hoping the 2014 EBR line up will have something in the $10k (or less) range to get him back on the sales charts.

Re: This week: 2010 Buell 1125R: Vote Today
I voted Cool. This bike is not the most beautiful sportsbike I've seen, but from what I know Buell is at the top of the technology curve and they are awesome to ride.
