I call for a new sticky in "start your engines"

#1 Unread post by scan »

Some clever person here who is quite good at posting photos and the whole resizing bit should write a little how to. We could then "sticky" that post to "start your engines" and it would be easy to refer new users to it. Those who need to understand how to get their beautiful bike into their post and maybe even pointers on making an avatar.

So anyone else think this is a good idea, and any volunteers to make such a post?

Sounds like a good idea but, it should include both picture and hyperlink instructions.

Posting Pics:

- Create a free account with PhotoBucket or similar
- Upload your pics to your PhotoBucket account
- COPY and PASTE the “Img” line to your post

Image

Creating Hyperlinks:

- Copy the web address you wish to create a hyperlink to
- Type “[url=” and then paste the web address you copied
- After the web address, type a “]” then the name you wish to give your link
- After the name, type “[/url]”

Image

Creating an Avatar:

- Download Avatar Sizer
- TMW requires that your avatar be no greater than 133 pixels wide and 220 high
- Enter the above maximums into Avatar Sizer’s interface
- Find the picture you wish to make into an avatar using Avatar Sizer’s Explorer interface
- Name the avatar something different to prevent overwriting the original picture

Great idea scanevalexec! And I really like the write up you did ZooTech!

Photobucket unfortunately is out as you have to join them to host an image. We need another image hoster that doesn't require you to sign up or join so we can encourage more members to post photos.

After looking a while I found this one: http://www.imgspot.com that would be ideal to suggest.

No sign up or joining required. No annoying click links to make the picture bigger, just simple and easy.

Choose this option to easily post an image in your message.
Image
Highlight all the code, copy (CTRL-C) and in your forum message paste (CTRL-V) where you want the photo to appear

And it will come out like this below:

I found it here for you: http://www.j-q-l.freeserve.co.uk/avatartight.htm

But I still suggest resizing your avatar by hand as you really don't want to install too many programs on your computer.

Mike.

Avatar Sizer can be had for free HERE. It's a tiny, unobtrusive application that works very well and does not sneak a bunch of spyware onto your computer while you're not looking. I've had it installed on two PC's for over a year now and haven't heard a peep out of it unless I called for it.
