CHANGE BOULEVARD M50 FOR HONDA VT750 SHADOW AERO ?????

#1 Unread post by BAJACRUISER »

My Suzuki dealer has problems to get me the Boulevard M50 ´07, There is three weeks ago that I made the order, and he can´t give me it yet. I´m desesperate, and I´m thinking in choose the Honda VT750 Shadow Aero, because is the same price and is only 50cc less, but isn´t fuel injection. I can´t afford a bigger bike and I don´t like a smaller cc bike. Do you think that is a good decision or is better wait 3 o 4 more weeks for the Boulevard?

This will be my first Cruiser bike......

i learned that fuel injection is better.

but i do know what it feels like to be desperate to get another bike but the bike i originally wanted is out of stock...

also, why not get a 2006 model? there doesn't seem to be any changes made.

If you're desparate to ride, ask your dealer he could provide you with a loaner.

The Honda Shadows are sure nice. Aside from cc's, what is the difference in horsepower?

Well, I prefer a 07 model, because is newer than 06, and it will have more value for resale, the only diference is that the 07 Boulevard has a fuel gauge.
I read that M50 Boulevard is 56 hp and and VT750 is 75, but I´m not sure of that.
Someone has the rigth information about horsepower between both bikes ?

The hp rating on the M50 is correct with factory specified specs.

As for the Aero kicking out 75, I wouldn't bank on that. It's more like 40-45hp.

I'd go with the 07' M50 if I were you. I prefer fuel injected over carbs. as it has better fuel/air control. The Aero is carbed.

Regarding aesthetics, the two bikes don't look much alike to me. The M50 has a more modern look while the Aero is more classic looking. Both as its appeal.

The M50 is unchanged for 2007 except for color options. I don't see any harm in owning an 06. I bet you can cut a deal with the dealer on an 06' while getting one strapped between your legs much faster than waiting for a newer 07.

Don't get me wrong, the Aero is a nice bike and it's HONDA. But mechanically and technologically - the M50 is a more modern bike with a better bang for the buck.

If you're buying a new bike for resale value... you might be in for a bit of a shock.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Thanks for your opinions bikers, By the way, the dealer doesn´t has a 06 neither......

I´m not buying the bike because his resale value, but I prefer to choose a 07 than a 06, because is newer and the next year I will have the last model yet. The price is the same for both models rigth now.

Love my 06 Aero 750. I think it is either 48 or 49 HP. If I was a lead foot, I'd say it was fast, but I find it very stable going 80. It goes faster, but I don't. On the interstate, 65 was good. I don't get blown around either!!

Met some guys on saturday - one had the M50. HE said he gets about 56 mpg, I think the Aero is getting about 48.

I think the suzuki parts are more expensive, perhaps because the line is new. The Honda OEM (like amber lights, if you break on  ) are cheaper.

On the Aero, I LOVE the two into one exhaust, the bigger headlamp, the wider front tire. The seat is nice and low too. Only - the stock seat was super wide - I changed for the Saddleman Profiler. I have had great luck with trading up my Hondas - the Rebel 250 to the VLX 600 to the Aero.

I think I am going to be with the Aero for a long time.
