Harley Dealers!

#1 Unread post by CNF2002 »

Venting on Harley Dealers. I have to ride 30 miles across town to get my Buell serviced for a tire change and even though there are 5 dealerships in this dang city only one is willing to even look at a Buell.

There's a Honda dealer that I like to go to to buy gear and stuff, sit on the 599, and drop "Please build the Nighthawk 750 again" into the suggestion box but they won't work on Buells. No one will!

I need to find an independent shop.

I just want a new tire

No one will mount the tire for you or they are unwilling to disconnect the tire from the bike for you?

Do the 4 dealers that won't service a Buell sell them? I can't imagine them selling a bike they won't service...

A couple of them do still sell Buells, but only because they have them in a back corner and don't care to sell them.

So none of them 'officially' sell Buells. The one dealer that services them do, but again they are in the back corner. I wouldn't be surprised if they stopped selling and servicing them in the near future. When I took my MSF course the HD dealer laughed when I asked for a Blast brochure. It never occured to me that I would have to go to a special dealer just to get a tire changed on a bike.

Story, they just won't touch them. Actually, the Buell needs a special bolt or something to be removed and replaced with a new one whenever the rear wheel is taken off. I don't know why, but thats what the manual says.

I don't have the tools to replace the tire myself, not to mention I like having all my fingers pointed in the same direction. I'll happily dig into anything in the engine except the tires (which, honestly, would probably not be too bad if I just had someone to walk me through it the first time - not willing to spend all the money on tools just to find out its not worth it).

I don't understand why so few dealers sell or want to sell Buells. They are good little bikes.

Since there are now 2 other members on TMW that own Blasts (we'll be needing our own subforum soon enough!) I'd be interested in hearing their experiences when they get tires. This will be my second new rear tire on this bike (third overall).

people are stupid, It is a rear tire for god sakes, It doesnt matter what bike it is on, Honda Harley, BMW , Buel. That is like if I refused to change tires on a honda at a chev dealership, because it wasnt a chevy. Are they too pig headed to see that your money is just as good as someone elses who happens to be driving one of their bikes

I would just refuse to do buisness with them ever again.

I'm sure there's a local shop that would be willing to work on it. It might pay to call a few.

Stealers really shouldn't be your first choice for anything other than warranty work.

I've gotta say that the Buells look quite a bit cooler than that Suzuki.

Thanks for the suggestion V, but in fact I do plan on getting a new bike eventually. With the lack of 'support' for my Blast, it will be inevitable that I end up buying something else. I will probably end up buying a Nighthawk 250 or, if I don't think it will manage well on the freeway, a Nighthawk 400/500/750.

Of course it will be a few years before I can spare money to set aside to save for one, during which time I hope to get as much as I can out of the Blast.

But yes as a second bike for long distance riding I think I would enjoy that Suzuki 650. I'll keep adding the pennies to the penny jar and when I've got a good 5k to buy one a few years old, I'll be sure to post pics
