I guess this is custumarry here
I guess it is ussually the custom to introduce oneself before going into detail about much of anything, so.... hello, I am new to this board, obviosly, and I am somewhat new to bikes. I'm not a total greenhorn however, as I did grow up with a couple bikers in my family ( one cousin that rides sportsters and Harleys, and an ex Hell's Angel) I can't say I know much, as I ussually work on cars, and have been for years (I'm 17, and worked on cars since I was 7). I don't have any type of license yet, or permit, nor do I have a bike yet. I am, however getting one for a graduation gift, so I came here to learn more about bikes, so I could hopefully make the right choice, and not pick a peice of crap, or something to high end than what I will ever need. So, that's pretty much it.

Welcome! Sounds like you have a good background with bikers in the family. You should have some support while you learn. One bit of advice: I highly recommend the MSF Basic Rider Course. That will give you the skills you need so you can concentrate on hazards on the road, rather than how to control the bike.

Hey, you might not have a bike yet (keyword, YET) but hey it's coming and you will be lovin' every minute of it my man.
Do make sure before you go out riding that you sign up and complete a Motorcycle Rider Safety Course in your area. Hey, it will give you better riding skills and a nice side effect it that it could save your life.
What kinds of bikes would you like as your first bike? Do you have a choice of what bike?
