According to the news story, most serious charge filed against her is 2nd degree vehicular manslaughter. That's a class D felony in NY, maximum prison sentence is 7 years. Guess it depends on the judge and NY's sentencing guidelines.
Not faulting the rider here, but I wonder how good his mirrors were, or how often he checked them. On my Vulcan, the mirrors were great, but my Ninja, they are about useless. On the Ninja, people pop up behind me when I thought I was alone on the road.
Maybe he could have avoided things with better visibility behind him? Of course I say that after being hit by a car on the Vulcan...
