Looking for First Bike

#1 Unread post by oXMav3ricKXo »

Hi all, im new to the forums, looks like a great wealth of knowledge. Im looking to purchase my first bike, im 6'3" 280lbs (BIG guy), and looking for a cruiser, something similar to a vstar 950 or vulcan 900 which is what i've been looking at. Are those bikes good enough for a first bike taking into consideration my height and weight? Any other pointers or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Not sure what you mean by good enough for a first bike, if you mean do they have enough power than yes. I suggest you go sit on a few different models of bikes (bike shows, dealers etc) to see how you like them and how they fit. Remember its your first bike not your last.

You are almost as tall as I but bigger so you'll have the issue of not only finding a bike that fits but also doesn't look tiny on you too.

There are quite a few bikes out there that will fit you, one I can suggest is a V-Strom 650, I owned it and it worked for my tallness and because it was a "big looking bike" it will suit your size.

The other option is "Standard UJM" type bikes like the GS500E (not the GS500F) or a Bandit 600/650 or even a Ninja 500R. For a Cruiser the Kymco Venox 250 is amazingly big for a 250cc, but you won't fit any Sportsters at all.
