November 13, 2016 - Honda has won the FIM MotoGP World Championship Constructors title in the MotoGP class, at the final round, the Valencian Community motorcycle Grand Prix.

Honda had entered the final round with a 21 point lead in the Constructors Championship. Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) made good progress in setting up his bike during the free practice sessions, and qualified 2nd for Sunday’s race. Marquez maintained his grid position to finish 2nd, giving Honda its 22nd premier class constructors title.

This season, five riders represented Honda on RC213V machines. Marc Marquez won 5 grands prix, while Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) won 2, and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) and Jack Miller (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) took one victory each, giving Honda a total of 25 championship points. Honda’s victory was helped by consistently good results even in races without a win: for example, Dani Pedrosa finished 4th at the French Grand Prix, despite 3 out of 5 Honda machines being unable to finish the race.

The constructors championship is ranked by awarding points equal to the top-scoring rider for each manufacturer. This year’s title was made possible by the joint efforts of Honda’s RC213V riders.

Honda had last won the premier-class constructors title in 2014. Honda successfully regained the title in 2016, along with Marc Marquez’s riders title.
