No, not a good day for Victory or their owners. I think the Polaris focus is on their other brand.Gummiente wrote:Not a good day for Victory owners and enthusiasts...

Re: Victory Motorcycles To Cease Production
So basically, Polaris used Victory as a training ground. Develop engineering, manufacturing, and marketing expertise by coming up with a motorcycle brand from scratch. Then apply all that knowledge once they bought a brand that has heritage behind its name and is better placed to compete with H-D because of that heritage. Good business, not so good for people who have Victory bikes.

Sad indeed. I just bought a 2012 Vision. Since my current bike has been out of production a few years already it is not such a novel experience. Just hope the parts are around for long enough for me to get a good ride out of it. The looks were already a conversation-starter. I expect the owner-forums will become quite valuable over time.

A few friends of mine got a phone call from their dealer asking if they still have their Victory, and whether they want to trade it in for an above book value.zebraranger wrote:No, not a good day for Victory or their owners. A good condition Victory might become a collectors item or something. Still a big pity for everyone who loved the brand.

Re: Victory Motorcycles To Cease Production
Indeed, it is a sad day for Victory. I really liked the brand because they were innovative and forced the other manufacturers to play "catchup" thanks to their willingness to put on "sportbike" technology on cruisers. Their "custom look" paint jobs were the best in the business. Back in 2003, they hinted to me that they were looking at different engines and different styles of bikes. Even a parallel-twin standard and a Victory sport bike. Shame it never happened.
Ah well, what are you going to do? I'd almost say the Victory brand was doomed the moment Polaris bought Indian as you could see the models were getting stale, the paint jobs only offered in black while Indian was doing amazing things.
Maybe Victory will be reborn for the 4th time by another manufacturer?
Hyosung Victory's?
