The King of Sportbikes is back, bow to the King…
It has been three decades, with more than a million editions sold, since
the GSX-R line was born. And a decade and a half has elapsed since the first
GSX-R1000 transformed the open sportbike class forever. Now, the 2017 GSX-R1000R
is redefining what it means to be The King of Sportbikes.
This motorcycle’s chassis forms the lightest, the most compact, the
most aerodynamic and the best-handling GSX-R1000 ever. Cradled in the new
aluminum frame is an all-new engine that uses an exclusive Variable Valve
Timing and Ride-by-Wire throttle bodies for a wide spread of power while delivering
smooth and precise throttle response
Using an Inertial Measuring Unit (IMU) the GSX-R1000R’s advanced electronics
package includes selectable performance modes so the motorcycle enhances and
fine tunes rider inputs. The six-axis IMU lets the GSX-R1000R recognize its
position on the street or race track to help the rider achieve an extraordinary
level of riding performance.
Up front, new style BREMBO T-drive brake rotors grasped by Monobloc calipers
connected to the exclusive Suzuki Motion Track Anti-lock Brake system provides
strong, controlled braking. The precise and smooth SHOWA Balance Free suspension
keeps the sticky Bridgestone RS10 tires in touch with the road. All of this
forward-looking motorcycle technology is covered in all-new, wind tunnel-developed
bodywork that’s uniquely GSX-R.
THE KING OF THE SPORTBIKES!
This is your invitation to Own The Racetrack.
*The Traction Control System is not a substitute for the rider’s throttle
control. It cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when the
rider enters a turn and/or applies the brakes. Neither can it prevent the
front wheel from losing grip.
*The ABS is a supplemental device for brake operation, not a device for shortening
stopping distance. Always remember to reduce speed sufficiently before approaching
curves.

Advanced electronics such as an Inertia Measurement Unit (IMU), S-DMS adjustable
power output, and Suzuki traction control, plus other performance features,
increase racetrack and street performance.
New design, twin-spar type aluminum frame is 10% lighter and more compact,

I voted cool. Would be a lot of fun to own. I always look at these bikes and want to make them more useful and turn them into a sports touring bike.

I voted cool, because it isn't uncool. Unless you're a trackday freak though, I find sportbikes increasingly irrelevant on the road.

Re: THIS WEEK: 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R - VOTE TODAY
These bikes have always been on my must have list. Thank God I never purchased one, allowing me to live long enough to tour more of the open roads. I am always envious of the price they put on these incredible advanced technology crotch-rockets for the younger group, while incorporating half the technology into a touring bike at twice the price for old flatulence like me. Either way, a great proving ground for motorcycle technologies we all will eventually benefit from.

Re: THIS WEEK: 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R - VOTE TODAY
I voted Awesome.
Not my bike nor the bike I'd want to ride. But what a technological machine. And at a price that is as stunning at it's looks.
Each decade I am more and more impressed how fast and powerful motorcycles become. We reached the height of what a rider can do without technological assistance years ago and now we can really only control this type of rocket with technology. Turn the technology off and I am not sure even a professional rider would have fun on this bike.
As motorcycle advance into the next decade and get more powerful will we see only see autonomous motorcycles? Would riders give up a "manual" bike for a 1 second faster quarter mile, faster shifts and easier handling?
If you look at automatic transmissions, PDK transmissions, dual clutch transmissions and even CVT transmissions taking up 95% of the new car market, I think we know the answer.
Save the manual? More like save the freedom to ride.

Total Motorcycle's Take-a-way: If you like your life a 1/4 mile at a time, then Suzuki has a bike for you. Fast and Furious, the new 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R pulls no punches, asks for no excuses and gives no quarter. Are you as hardcore as it?
While that sounds like an amazing promo video for Suzuki to sell a boat load of 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R's, the simple fact remains it is a highly technological machine that only works best on a track with a very highly experienced rider. Outside of the ideal environment (or movie), it's less than ideal. But your insurance company will love you.

Exactly. Marvels of engineering, but local roads (New Jersey) are so crowded, it's impossible to use even a quarter of the bike's potential around here.Grey Thumper wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2017 3:56 pm I voted cool, because it isn't uncool. Re: #325: 2017 Suzuki GSX-R1000R - Coolness Factor = 77.1%
I voted for awesome, I like the suave design of the Suzuki GSX-R series. Most of the litre-class bike has the similar-looking sharp front-end styling. I like GSX-1000R as it looks very unique to me. I currently own the Suzuki GSX 150R and I love its design. It is lightweight and it handles really well. GSX-R150 is one of the most values for money 150cc sports bike. I hope to upgrade to the Suzuki GSXR 600 or 1000 someday.
