what upgrades to make a bike faster?
hey im not quite sure, but is there upgrades u can do to a bikes engine and things like that to make it faster, kinda like makin an eclipse faster. So if got like a yzf r6 then later i could make it faster once im ready maybe. ive heard that u can mount small nitrous tanks. Thats a little... gettin out of hand but anyways if anyone has some info about upgrading your bike that would be helpful thanks!

Without going completely nuts, there isnt a whole lot you can do. You can replace the whole exhaust system and get a power commander, but that is extremely expensive and the hp gains arent that significant. Other than that, Im pretty sure the rest of the things possible have to do with engine modification. Weight reduction could also be a strategy- an expensive strategy.

There's really no point in trying to go that fast. My buddy spent about $2k getting his bike "faster" and yes his bike can go over 180 on the freeway according to the radar gun. But since he doesn't race, there wasn't much point, and he didn't gain THAT much for all the effort he put into it (all the labor done himself or for free)

If by faster, you mean quicker, a simple dual sprocket change will help you rip your face of with wheelie-prone acceleration. Yzf r6 is quick already, new sprockets, 1 tooth down in front, two teeth up in rear will make it bucking bronco quick. How quick are you...that's the question. Unless you're looking for top-end...this solution reduces that...this will speed you up.
Ride safe...God bless!

Squeeze a YZF-R1 motor into it
.
Essentially, if you can do it to a car motor, it can be done to a bike. Expect it to cost $$$ though. I believe a cam and valve job on my friend's 929RR is close to $1000 just in parts, just to give you an idea. BUUUT a short list includes:
velocity stack
high-flow filter
high-flow airbox
light weight/differant sized front/rear sprockets/chain
full race pipes (full exhaust)
power comander/rejet
over-bore
balance and blue print
port polish
oversized valves
titainium valve springs
race cams
high compression race pistons
low compression race pistons so you can...
TURBO!!!
nitrous
PAIR valve bypass <---bypass the bike's equivalent to the EGR (i forget what it's called)
bigger fuel injectors
bigger fuel pump
Am I forgetting anything? Try taking R1 parts and putting them on the R6. I'm thinking the fuel injectors and pump. If the front forks on the R6 and R1 share the same rake/trail, and the R1 has beefier/better suspension, see if the forks will fit on the R6.

Little known Tuner Secret:
Inside the left case cover, there is a hamster. This little guy runs around in his little wheel, which rotates the crankshaft. Most guys just like to open up the crankshaft and put a little blue cheese right in front of his nose ... mmmm yummy - that hamster really goes after that chesse!
However, late at night, if you go to a certain place where motorcycles park for the night (Usually a public garage w/ low lighting) you can sometimes find a little Hamster crack dealer. If you perform certain ... favors for the hamster crack dealer, he'll cut you in on a real deal which will get your hamster turnin' SERIOUS rpm's.
Talk about speed! However, this route has the unfortunate side effect of causing an early death for your hamster. Maybe you've seen a bike that shakes rattles and wheezes, and sometimes dies at idle or under acceleration? Yep - that's the results of hamster crack overdose.
If you prefer more torque instead of horsepower, you have to go down to the sewers late at night and find a Nice Big Rat. Stuff him inside your crankcase cover and boy howdy - you'll turn that R6 into a torque monster baby!
