Two firemen from Ancud in Chile have been arrested for setting property on fire.

Jose Antecao Gonzales and Luis Navarro Aguila are being accused of setting fire to houses and shops in the Isla Chiloe area.

Formula for a happy relationship

Formula for a happy relationship
ananova.com

A German scientist has calculated a formula for a happy relationship where criticism needs to be cancelled out by five compliments.

Dr Hans-Werner Bierhoff, from the social psychology department at the Ruhr University Bochum, claims that couples should ideally compliment their partners five times for each time they criticise them.

He said:"Then people feel good in their relationship. Goodwill increases your potential to be happy."

Professor Bierhoff and his colleague Elke Rohmann conducted tests on thousands of individuals and couples and used the results to write a book called "What makes love strong" that provides advice on how relationships can be made to last.

The book also addresses problems that relationships can face as circumstances change.

He said that unemployment, infidelity or "stressful experiences" like diseases, depression or child birth can upset the balance and lead to a break-up.

Japanese youth 'hijacks' airport bus and lands in jail
Tue Mar 22, 2005

TOKYO (Reuters) - A Japanese youth who wanted to go to Tokyo's Haneda airport boarded a bus heading there before threatening to hijack it unless it took him to ... the airport.
The unemployed 19-year-old bought a ticket for the early morning bus on Monday. During the journey he stood up and shouted to the driver that he was going to hijack the bus.

The youth was drunk and wasn't carrying a weapon. He was arrested when the driver alerted police and is being held on suspicion of forcible obstruction of business.

"He just wanted to make a scene," a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

Horrifying Highway 401 scene, but first impressions deceiving, no injuries
cnews.canoe.ca

NAPANEE, Ont. (CP) - It was a horrifying scene on the nation's busiest highway Monday morning, with mangled cars and a disabled tractor-trailer scattered across Highway 401.

Early calls to the nearby Ontario Provincial Police detachment in Napanee, Ont., painted a terrifying picture of a tractor-trailer crushing several cars on the highway.

But initial appearances were deceiving.

"When the officers first arrived, they weren't sure what they had because there were crushed cars all over the place," said Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Jim Cosgrove.

"But it turned out that it was part of the load of crushed cars - fortunately."

Police closed a section of the highway running through eastern Ontario for a few hours when a tractor-trailer hauling the cars dropped part of its load early Monday.

Several of the vehicles came loose and slid onto the highway. It looked like a tragic, multi-vehicle crash, but the cars were empty and had already been scrunched for scrap metal.

There were no injuries and police reopened the highway a short time later.

One of our local radio stations (Vibe 98.5) is a regular daily visitor to the Total Motorcycle Forum as they keep using the stories I'm posting in the Funny Stories/Weird News topics (this one) on the radio each morning!!

This morning they used the "Horrible accident on Hwy with crushed cars story"

I really don't mind at all, as these are great funny news stories to share on the radio!

Mike.
