It's time to kill the kids at the bus stop.

There's nothing in this world more irritating than coming out to your bike and finding that some snot nosed kid was messing with it while waiting for the bus. I've found the bike in 5th gear before, the switches all changed around, and fingerprints all over the bike. Those aren't so bad.

Today I started to run out of gas in the normal fashion, I went to switch it into reserve and... it was ALREADY in reserve. Third time that I haven't caught this and the third time that I've had to haul my "O Ring" to a gas station. The girlfriend wants me to put a sticker on the bike that says "Touch this bike and I'll eat you". For now I'm thinking about a 7 am stakeout with water balloons...

Forget water balloon. Garden Hose! Or pressure washer.

You might also consider a bike cover, or even more fun, wire the frame to a spare car battery. ZZZZAAAAAPPPP!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I forgot to mention that they take the bike covers off (they do this to two of my bikes, the other two are in a garage, in pieces making it so the other bikes won't fit for the time being).

I wanted to put some booby traps on the bikes (I like the car battery idea) but that's technically against the law here and these are the kids of no funs that think anything their precious little ones do is ok and can't see why I'd be mad that they mess with my stuff. I think an alarm might do the trick, but I like the idea of getting those kids soaking wet in the nice sub freezing weather we've been having.

Just standing out there one morning with your hockey stick in hand might be enough to convince them that maybe they shouldn't be messing with your stuff. Have a tenis ball on hand so that you can claim to "just be practising when they go running for mommy.

Put the fear of god into them (you being god) and they'll leave your stuff well enough alone.

Most alarms work off of a "tip" factor, basically if you tip the bike to upright it'll go off. So if they're just throwing switches and changing gears that probably won't set it off.

i would wack a kid with my paintball gun if i saw him touchin my bike. The car battery idea sounds good, sounds legal too. If its on your property and its yours seems to me you could do what you want with it. Though id use a series of D batterys, car batterys have such a low current that it would probably be a mere shock, get 6-10 D batterys wired togethor and that will smart em :)

Okay, I bit my tongue the first time the car battery idea was brought up, but now it's still being discussed. :frusty:

A car battery puts out between 600 and 1000 cca's (Cold Cranking Amps), so it would put out FAR more current (amperage) than 6-10 "D" batteries. Secondly, ten "D" batteries would amount to 15-volts, and a car battery puts out 14.4-volts, so what's the difference voltage-wise?

Lastly, when's the last time a 12-volt car battery threw you down? I can dip both hands in salt water and grab both battery terminals and it won't do a thing. You would have to wire up a coil like the ones used in stun guns if you want to do anything at all to a person.

So please...stop the sillyness!

It doesn't have to throw them down, it just needs to hurt. I don't know if you've ever licked both ends of a 9 volt, but it's a enough of a shock to make you want to not do it again.

That would be the intent in this case.

So, I supposed he'd need to keep the bike wet with some sort of conducting solution /rolleyes, but there must be a way.

ok no sillyness, time for a serious plan no more messin around. Sprinkle CS powder over your bike so if they touch it then they get a CS reaction, especailly if they touch their nose/mouth afterwords :D

What is CS powder?
