I am also a Canadian, but currently living in Seattle.
Very nice bike, I love the hot red color. Enjoy and be safe :D
Hello allawybiker.....

Thanks for the comments. Yes.... I was drawn to the red color when I saw it on the dealership floor. :D

I was walking in to see if they had any used or demo Virago 1100's extinct now since '99 as I found out. :(

So I glanced around and there she was all sparkly and red....saying "Buy Me...buy me..." lol

I would have never thought that I would walk into a dealership to buy a cruiser and walk out with a sportbike. I guesss it just happens!! :D

Cheers...

High_Side wrote:Welcome to the board! Nice looking ride you've got there. How do you like it so far? There are a few of us here in Cow-town and we even pull off the odd pub night so you will have to come out next time around. Hang around for a while and check out the forums and you can get addicted like the rest of us
Cheers, High_Side
Hello High_Side.... Thanks for the welcome! :) I really like the riding position on this Katana (more upright)....I used to have an FZ750 that was a blast to ride in spurts, but on the highway it sure made the right wrist painful. Of course I am sure that I will be sliding a butt cheek off the seat once in a while on some corners soon.... and once I get a decent chance to make a highway trip on this bike after it breaks in, I'll provide more honest feedback.... :D I'm sure it won't take too long to rack up the km's for that first crucial service... :D

Let me know when you do your next pub night and I'll try and make it out.....and I'm sure I'll become a forum junkie soon...heck I'm well on my wayI think :)

Cheers..

Welcome canadianbacon!

Great looking Katana 600 you purchased! How do you like it? The Katana is a great bike and has been around for a very long time in different forms. Total Motorcycle has a 2005 Katana 600 page: http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2 ... Katana.htm with some specs you may find interesting.

Is this your first bike or..? I look forward to reading your posts and stories. :D

Have fun and don't forget we have a Calgary TMW Pub/Coffee Night! Please do come on out, meet some friendly members and have some fun!

Enjoy!

Mike.
Hi Mike... Thanks for the welcome!! :D I really like the Katana so far.....a comfortable riding position and a great sound too! Thanks for the Katana specs link... lots of good info there.

This is not my first bike....but it is my first bike in 12 years..... :D

I started of with a '76 CanAM 250 back in the late 80's, and of course I got addicted to motorcycles right there and then. I sold the CanAM and picked up an '77 RD 400 ...wow!! a 6-speed 2-stroke with disc brakes all around ( I guess a seriuos sport bike of it's time) :) .. then I picked up a KX 175 for some dirt riding and ultimately traded my 2-stroke sportster on a 81 Virago 750 (my first cruiser)....Over the summer I upgraded to a 82 750 Virago, then a 920 Virago, and then I picked up a 1986 100 Virago......only to trade it in on a 1987 FZ750 (my first bike with a full fairing). Well the FZ was a blast but hurt the wrists and back on long hauls soI traded again for a 1987 Virago 1100. Then I got married and had kids...and so a 12 year bikeless drought followed. But as all things go.....I walked into a bike dealership just to refresh my memories of the Virago, only to find out that they stopped making them in 99... no matter...I spotted that 2005 Katana and fell inlove...and rode off with it a day later..... :D ....thats my bike history.

Shucks, now I wont have anything to chat about on pub/coffee night.... :D

Cheers...

Hi Rob,

WOW, what a history with flavor! I highly doubt you will be at a loss for words with all that to talk about at the next pub night! :D

Thanks for sharing all that! 3 Virago's in one summer eh? Then to settle on a FZ750 (interesting choice after the Virago's). Then a 2005 Katana today.. whew! The Virago cruiser was a great bike, but the Yamaha V-Star's carry on the tradition of a fine cruiser.

Mike.
