I'm with Sev. There should be no problem at all starting it up with 3 month old oil. Starting it before changing the oil is actually the right way to do it. Any moisture or acids that built up in the crankcase over the last 3 months will be washed into the oil, and subsequently removed when you drain it. If you were to drain it cold, you'd leave that buildup inside the engine to contaminate your new oil.Sev wrote:It will be fine, just ride the darn thing.

Is there actually any benefit to changing the oil before storing the bike, or is it just that its a convenient time to do it?
