The pre-2008 pants are like wearing jeans in terms of air flow. No vents per se, but they self-vent well enough.pvo22 wrote:Are the Super Duty pants good for summer riding? Do they breathe or are there any vents on them?
The 2008 pants might actually let a little more air in; at the knees they have this thick lyrca-like material (seems pretty danged strong) and I'm guessing it lets more air in. I have a pair, but I don't wear them, so I can't honestly vouch for them. The Spouse Thingy had no complaints with his, though he prefers his Slider's Kevlar lined jeans.

Let me know if you try it because I'd love to add some kneepads to my jeans.Thumper wrote:The Arc pants do. For the SD pants any armor with velcro would work....it would stick to the Aramid pretty well, I think. Or strap on armor; I'm seriously considering that.Brackstone wrote:This is why I'm getting a different pair of pants, no optional knee pads in any of the icon stuff

I've owned a few things from icon. Jackets, gloves, visibility vest, leg field armor and a mainframe helmet.
The helmet, vest and leg armor are doing well. The jacket and gloves barely made a few uses. Of course this was in 06 and early 07. Supposedly ICON has been under new management since mid to late last year and they are upping quality.
Personally, I'd stick with Tecknic, Tourmaster/Cortech, Joe Rocket or Aerostitch

I had some Icon stuff, and I think their products have gotten better. I had an old Aliance helmet which was horrible, and I thought their armor vest was cheap. However I have the Pursuit jacket which is quite good, and I have the leg armor which I think is a good product as well. However the leg armor is not CE rated.
