It hit $1.299 a litre yesterday in Calgary (Oil and Gas town). That's $4.92 a US Gallon. :(

They have been saying on the radio to expect $1.50 litre by summer still or $5.6778 a US Gallon. OUCH.

In the UK fuel prices are steadily going up by about 1/2p per day = 1 cent per day US

The cheapest lead-free petrol in my area is now £1.15 per litre which works out at 8.6 USD per US gallon.

$2.30 per litre? Wowzers! We always thought once gas hit $2 litre few would still drive... Do you have a lot of trucks and SUV's there or mostly small cars? What does it cost to fill your bike up? Mine is $28.60 right now (22l tank)

Hi Mike

Most people are just resigned, but they're getting more conscious of consumption. I don't know anyone who has stopped driving altogether, but lots are finding alternative ways of getting to work. We have a very extensive rail network in the UK. People have been complaining for years that it is overpriced, but recently ticket sales have begun to rocket as more and more commuters are switching from car to train.

To put this in perspective an annual discounted commuter season ticket on the train from here to London and back (about 30 miles each way) costs somewhere in the region of £3,000.

Small 'European' cars make up the majority of vehicles on the roads, but you do see a fair number of SUVs. Big 4x4s with bull bars are very popular. They are often used as family cars. Townies as well as country types have them. They're a status symbol, and often appear to have no very practical purpose.

Filling up the bikes at about 13 litres costs me around $29 (US) at the moment.

Cheers

Richard

You could live in venezuela where its $26 cents a gallon. at least it was a couple months ago.

It has dropped , just like I predicted, after memorial day. Its now $3.96/gallon here.
