What the heck, I'll give it an Awesome. It's a little confusing to look at at first: the frame is about as big as a 250, but the tires (cheaper?) are tiny. If it was slimmer, I'd compare it to a Sachs Madass. Love the price point though, and I'd like to see some actual riding footage. Reminds me of a stocky little pit bull.
The CBR would modt likely have very tall gearing and would not be a runabout so much as a racer. For what I would use a tiny little bike for a runabout for getting some beer or deli runs more aptly I think it can't be beat!!
I almost didn't vote at all as I'm really undecided if this bike is cool or not as I still don't "get it". The 5.5l fuel tank is tiny tiny, but it's a 125cc so it should be "ok". The 12" tires are going to make riding a rough experience over speed bumps, cracks, uneven pavement, in fact, anything city that isn't smooth.
It isn't a classic Monkey-Bike, that would be cool, but in fact the seat height is pretty close to a standard motorcycle. The price of $3000 is good and it should get more new riders into motorcycling as well, but the design is very specific to something (Gen-Y).
Gen Y by the way:
Generation Y, also known as the Millennial Generation,[1] is the demographic cohort following Generation X. There are no precise dates for when Generation Y starts and ends
So I'm not even sure Honda knows who there target group is as well other than "young".
Well, I think I'll have to wait till I see one in the real world as it's just too hard for me to say if it's awesome or a fail, for now, it's Cool as it's something different and unique.
It's a quirky looking bike and at 125cc it could be a tough sell to anyone but a young first time rider (even though 125cc is a perfectly fine starting bike!). But then I look at the price - only $4k in the US - and it's a Honda... I had no choice but to vote awesome. I hope this bike attracts young riders who would be starting out on the size of bike that they should be starting out on. Way to go Honda!
Commentary: What a quirky new motorcycle from Honda with a quirky name gets quite a great (but quirky) result of 67.5% Cool. It's cheap, it's cheerful but will it have a lasting effect? Will it sell? Will riders connect with it? Most voters think so but only time will tell...
This week's new cool wall bike is up now for voting and discussion.
