Notes: Great discussion this week on MV Agusta's latest offering, the Rivale 800, which I had to look up the Italian work "Rivale" and it means in English: "Pizza dough"... lol. No, actually it doesn't, did I fool you? It's mean Rival, like "he is my rival".

I hated to have voted fail on it, and I was definitely the odd man out there as when I did, there were 0 fail votes. Usually I wait till the end of the week to vote so I don't influence votes, with 8 fail votes in, maybe I voted too early? No matter, the Rivale 800 did very well, with Awesome being the most voted by far and the bike ending up at a very respectable 61.5% TMW Coolness Factor.

Notes: Wow, quite the different turn out vs the MV Agusta we had up last week! While the new MV Agusta didn't do great (61.5%) the Benelli absolutely didn't. Seems many can't get over the fact Benelli has entered uncharted Chinese made waters and now with 150cc and 250cc Benelli's "Made in China" what direction will the company take? Cheap and Cheerful or Cheap and God-aweful? No matter the end result, the Chinese Benelli appears to have an uphill battle to fight on their hands.

Commentary: I don't think I could have said it any better than what forum member sapual did: "That is why it is cool. People will buy these and they will be a round for years, because for those people it invoked everything they want in a bike. It won't get changed much as the market demands that it does not, They want a classic bike, but not the "crumb" that goes along with a true classic. They want to look like ton up boys, but not spend hours doing their hair and then cleaning oil spills before getting the bike out of the garage. they want to go to the pub and have a pint and know the bike is not so dangerous it will kill them. They want brekkie runs with like minded folk who are happy to run slow in a big group. They want nostalgia, and most will not care about CC's or high tech, as long as it starts first time and the service costs are not to bad." - sapual

Commentary: Some feel it's unique, others think it's a cheap knockoff of a higher end (MV Agusta) brand. No matter what it is/could be based on, it's Yamaha's first 3-cylinder bike in over 30 years. Yamaha says more 3-cylinder bikes are coming out, it will be interesting to follow this new trend in the future!

NOTES: Riders felt it was a great bike in it's day, but the day has come and gone (if it was still sold today) and Suzuki needs to bring out an updated EFI GS500E as riders would love it. Used: It's a fun, inexpensive great bike to start out on! Highly recommended used.
