Possibly the best solution aside from garaging the bikes would be set up a small security camera and catch the lil care on video. Then confront the parents with the footage and threaten to sue or report the kids to the cops (the parents will usually be required to pay restitution for any damage that results from their idiot kids).

This is the best suggestion. If you haven't talked to the parents, show them the video. If you have already tried that, call the cops. I would put a No Trespassing sign when you do this so that it is in view of the camera as well.

Another option is since this is a school bus stop, call the school. I was a teacher for 8 years and in my school system, anything that happened at the bus stop was considered the same as having happened on school grounds. Something like you are describing - basically trespassing and vandalism - if caught on video, would most likely get them suspended from school for a week or so. You could also force the school to move the bus stop elsewhere.

If you get video, you'll have lots of options.

Oh! Oh! I did this!! Well something like it... the back of our house faces the entrance of another subdivision, where the bus stop is. I realized that what had at first looked like play (between two older boys and a younger one) was actually bullying. After several days of watching and feeling helpless, I realized that I could call the school about what I saw - the boys seemed to be brothers, they were dropped off together. I noted the bus number. The principal was very interested in what I had to say and said she would deal with it.

The next week the boys were chaperoned at the bus stop.

Apparently there are a few cameras operated in the neighborhood as far as a neighborhood watch/board precaution. It showed the kids messing with my bikes and was forwarded to the President of the neighborhood board. To live here you have to agree to a whole bunch of rules, but they are laxly enforced. The President told me that he'll talk to the parents and if they mess with my bikes again... he'll start enforcing some of the more expensive ones.

That's great and all, but if I were you, I would demand a copy of that video and give it to the cops and school. I got the impression from the first post that you have already talked with at least some of the parents. If that is true, then he is just taking the same route you already tried and it didn't work. I wouldn't wait around to find out one of them knocked over your bike. It could end up that the video didn't get who does it and you have no recourse. And if it does, the way some people are today, their parents will probably try to sue you because you're bike fell over on their kid. Have you previously talked with any of the parents?

I can't stand the stupid, arrogant nature of so many idiots who think that because the vehicle is a motorcycle, it's okay to touch it, sit on it, flick gears, etc.

I know what you mean. Even bicycles get more respect. Sometimes it's because people just assume it's some rich guy's plaything. They don't understand some of us actually worked hard and saved to buy it, and can't afford to repair anything they "fudge" up.

What pisses me off even more than that, is you KNOW if they tip it over or broke something there's no way in hell they'd ever let you know.

When people mess with my bike they're gambling with my life to a degree. I think bottom line that's what really gets me about it.

i agree 100%. Took me close to a year to save up and get my bike. With school, books, food, and other stuff, if something were to break i would have to put the bike in the garage and save up to fix it. Which is lame, and yes they are messin with my life. They tinker lets say with something really important like the clutch or brake lines that can be a serious problem.
