Need a photoshop assist

#1 Unread post by storysunfolding »

Hey,

I completely lack any semblance of an artistic streak. I need help with a very simple art project and hoped someone out there could do me a solid.

I have three pictures, and I want to overlay the numbers 7, 30 and '10 on them respectively. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

In the end these photos will be used as smaller pictures lined up over another picture of my fiancee and myself.

This one needs a 7

This one needs a '10 or 2010- Curious about which works best.

I'll give it a go, after I get home from work.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Yea, that will work.

I use photoshop 7.0 so there may be some differences. Open the picture in photoshop and in the layer box make a copy of the picture. Just drag the layer ( should say background) to the copy icon. Now you will have two layers in the box. Background and background c(opy). Now find the Layer drop down menu and click on it. A new menu will appear, select " New layer" and click on that. You will now have three layers in the Layer box. If you have not named the new layer it will have a number. Use this new layer to do your work. Anything that you do in the new layer will not affect the original picture or the copy. If you want to try different styles of numbers I would make a new layer for each type. When you are satisfied merge the desired layers. You will find the merge function in the layer box (>> under the X). You will have a couple of merge options. Normally what I do is make all Layers invisible ( click on the eye so it disappears) except what I want to merge. Then click on "merge visible". I usually merge using the copy so if I screw up I have the untainted original.

Hope this helps.

I just saw the post, but I can also help you (being a graphic artist and all was my main profession). I use Photoshop CS3 and can do that for ya.

If you can email me the original sized photos (or best resolution) I can get them back to you shortly... of course, I don't want to step on anyone's toes who would like to do this for you, I'm just offering another helping hand. :D
