Bringing Trails Performance to Life…

The Honda Montesa team has produced two of the most brilliant trials machines the world has ever seen: the Montesa Cota 4RT260 and the all-new Montesa Cota 300RR.

What’s the difference? Cota 4RT260 is a cutting-edge trials bike, the perfect combination of Honda’s engine technology and Montesa’s world-championship trials experience. The Cota 300RR takes things a step further: It’s a true limited-edition factory replica, with an engine that now displaces a full 288cc, thanks to both a larger piston and a long-stroke crank. It also features a new ECU with a twin-map option: with the flick of a handlebar-mounted switch you can even choose between two ignition maps for varying levels of available traction. And finally, the Cota 300RR is two pounds lighter than the Cota 4RT260.

Serious about winning? Or just serious about trials riding on the best bike available? Either way, there’s a Montesa Cota that’s right for you. Both are available in limited quantities. But take our word—the wait’s been worth it.

2016 Honda Montesa Cota 4RT260 www.Totalmotorcycle.com Key Features

ENGINE

Both Cota models use an aluminum chassis with a gorgeous finish, showcasing the classic lines and the impeccable manufacturing quality. The Cota 300RR’s footpegs are 5mm lower and 5mm farther back, taking more weight off the bike’s front end. Along with the lighter front suspension, the machine feels more responsive and agile.

CHASSIS

Both Cota models feature fuel-injected power that’s easier to modulate, for the surgical power delivery so critical to trials riding. Specifically tuned for low-rpm response, they’re also extraordinarily flexible, with plenty of power and torque all the way through the rev range. A bigger cylinder bore and longer stroke means the Cota 300RR increases its displacement to 288cc. Also, a new fuel pump provides more pressure, helping give the engine a stronger power curve everywhere, boosting the midrange while maintaining its excellent power delivery at low rpm.

ENGINEERING

The Cotas’ Honda engines use battery-less digital ignition systems, and include a bank-angle sensor to switch off the ignition when the motorcycle is lying on the ground. The Cota 300RR also incorporates a magnetic kill switch.

BRAKES AND WHEELS

Both 2016 Montesa Cota models are equipped with a 4-piston monoblock front-brake caliper. The Cota 300RR features a new red-anodized Braktec caliper which increases braking performance. Each Cota uses 32-spoke wheels. The rear wheel features an innovative system incorporating central-adjustment spokes for a significant weight reduction, and which also allows the Cota to fit tubeless tires. The Cota 300RR comes with premium Michelin X11 tires, laser-engraved hubs, and light DID aluminum rims.

DUAL-MAP ECU

Does your course feature sections with poor traction, followed by sections with better grip? No problem—the new 300RR features a handlebar-mounted mode switch that lets you choose between two maps/modes to change engine power delivery.

PREMIUM SUSPENSION

The Montesa Cota 4RT260 offers an adjustable 39mm TECH fork and R16V shock for the Pro-Link rear suspension. The Cota 300RR features a new TECH fork with lighter aluminum tubes and a Showa rear suspension designed to improve stability, traction, and overall feel.

SUPPLEMENTAL SEAT

The Montesa Cota 4RT260 comes with a removable seat that is substantially more comfortable and incorporates a handy underseat storage.

REDUCED WEIGHT

The all-new Montesa Cota 300RR is two pounds lighter than the 4RT260, making this great trials machine even better.

2016 Honda Montesa Cota 4RT260 www.Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Engine & Drivetrain

Dual Map ECU

Traction different from one section to the next? No problem. The Cota’s ECU lets you choose between two ignition maps with the flick of a handlebar-mounted switch.

Smooth, accurate shifting

Gearing in the close-ratio five-speed transmission was selected to perfectly match the engine’s powerband so you always have the perfect gear for whatever section you’re riding.

Optimum fan placement

The radiator fan is positioned in a manner that promotes evacuation of dirt, pebbles or other objects and prevents blockage of the fan itself.

Reduced engine braking

A crankcase decompression system limits engine braking when closing the throttle for improved rider control, making the bike feel lighter and easier to handle.

Linear power curve

Precise mapping of the ignition system’s ECU gives the engine a consistent power curve, particularly in the low and mid ranges.

Battery-less ignition

Battery-less digital ignition includes a bank-angle sensor to switch off the ignition when the motorcycle is lying horizontal.

Easy to modulate

Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) with a narrow, high-velocity 28 mm throttle body ensures rapid fuel/air flow and precise cylinder filling, resulting in crisp power delivery that’s easy to modulate – so critical in trials riding.

Power boost

A high-pressure fuel pump helps to boost midrange and top-end performance while maintaining the engine’s excellent power delivery at low rpm.

Honda Unicam power

The Cota 4RT260 uses an exclusive Honda 259 cc liquid-cooled 4-valve Unicam engine that was designed and tuned specifically for the unique demands of trials riding, including the need for ultra-strong low-rpm power.

Chassis & Suspension

Secure grip

Wide, adjustable footrests provide extra grip and confidence in the toughest sections.

Strong and light

Compact and lightweight front brake system uses a 4-piston caliper (monoblock on the Race Replica edition), 185 mm rotor and sintered metal pads. The rear brake features a 2-piston caliper, 150 mm hydraulic disc and sintered metal pads.

Traction and handling

Dunlop D803GP tires provide incredible traction while also giving the Cota more-responsive handling.

Innovative rear wheel

The 32-spoke rear wheel features an innovative system incorporating central-adjustment spokes for a significant weight reduction. The system also allows the Cota to use a tubeless rear tire.

Pro-Link performance

At the back, the Pro-Link suspension features an adjustable R16V damper and 170 mm (6.7 in.) of travel, while the Race Replica edition features a competition-spec Showa adjustable shock.

Premium suspension

A 39 mm TECH cartridge-type adjustable fork provides 175 mm (6.9 in.) of travel. The Repsol Race Replica edition steps up to a premium Showa competition-spec fork.

Tight packaging

Every component was painstakingly designed to be as compact and to fit as tightly as possible, resulting in a bike that’s incredibly svelte and smooth, with a minimum of jutting surfaces to inhibit your movement.

Classic quality

The Cota 4RT260 features an aluminum chassis with a gorgeous finish, showcasing classic Montesa styling and impeccable manufacturing quality.

Additional Features

Best of both

Weighing just 74.2 kg (163.7 lb) with fuel, the Cota 4RT260 is a cutting-edge trials bike – the perfect combination of Honda’s engine technology and Montesa’s world-championship trials experience.

Removable seat

The 4RT260 includes an easily installed additional seat that incorporates a handy storage area, so you can use your Cota for both serious competition and fun play riding.

Carbon-fibre protection

The Repsol Race Replica edition comes equipped with beautiful carbon-fibre guards on the fork, engine cases and muffler that look trick and provide additional protection.
