Performance, Style and Comfort for Today’s Sportbike Rider…

Riders seeking the ultimate performance coupled with everyday practicality will be thrilled to throw a leg over the Ninja 1000 ABS sportbike, especially with a new assist and slipper clutch. It is well equipped with the most advanced tools to help the rider tackle a variety of situations. Starting with the powerful 1,043cc DFI® engine, its usability is enhanced with selectable Power Modes and three-mode KTRC Traction Control system to help moderate the power in slippery conditions, as well as anti-lock brakes.

The new assist and slipper clutch was developed from Kawasaki’s experience on the racetrack. The clutch uses two types of cams (an assist cam and a slipper cam), allowing it to provide two new functions, not available on the standard clutch of the previous model.

When the engine is under load, the assist cam functions to pull the clutch hub and operating plate together to compress the clutch plates. This allows the total clutch spring load to be reduced, resulting in a lighter clutch lever pull. Fewer?clutch springs (three replacing five springs on the previous model) translate to a 30% lighter clutch lever feel.

When backload is applied (i.e. excessive engine braking occurs), perhaps as the result of quick downshifts (or even an accidental downshift), the slipper cam then comes into play. It forces the clutch hub and operating plate to separate, relieving pressure on the clutch plates and reducing back-torque. This helps to reduce the rear tire from hopping and skidding, allowing the rider to retain control of the motorcycle.

The Ninja 1000 ABS is intended for riders looking for aggressive styling with a comfortable riding position, excellent ergonomics and Kawasaki dependability. The motorcycle has a tall sixth gear for cruising, large five-gallon fuel tank to reach further destinations and remote rear spring preload adjuster for when a passenger or luggage are added.

The result of so much development and technology is a powerful and reliable motorcycle with phenomenal all-around performance that delivers on the street for commuting, canyon carving or even track days

A manually adjustable, three-position windscreen helps tailor the protection to the rider’s requirements, allowing riders to pick the right setting for their height and position. Integrated front turn signals, stylish tail-section and full-featured instrument panel complete the look.

With such a radical appearance, the Ninja 1000 ABS offers surprisingly comfortable ergonomics. The handlebars are mounted higher than race-oriented supersports motorcycles and its rubber-topped footpegs are mounted lower, making the Ninja 1000 ABS a capable sport tourer that is comfortable enough to allow the rider to spend the day in the saddle without undue strain.

Passenger comfort is also paramount, with grab rails incorporated into the rear subframe. And to sweeten the deal, Kawasaki offers a line of accessories, including seat cowl, axle sliders and more.

It’s rare to find all-around functionality in a sporting motorcycle but the 2016 Ninja 1000 ABS is a different beast – with wide-ranging talent in sport, sport-touring and commuting roles.

New for 2016 are two color options – Metallic Carbon Grey / Metallic Flat Spark Black as well as an eye-catching Candy Fire Red / Metallic Spark Black.
