2025 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits

Engine Features

– Using SV650 street model engineering, the V-Strom 650/XT’s liquid-cooled, DOHC, V-twin engine has been tuned to deliver clean, strong power throughout its operating range.

– Low-friction resin-coated pistons and SCEM-coated cylinders help deliver high mileage for class-leading touring range.

– Unique engine under cowling and select fasteners are designed to permit the use of Torx drivers or conventional hex-style tools.

– The sleek 2-into-1 exhaust system routes below the chassis to reduce weight, centralize mass, and provide space for a narrow tail section (and optional luggage).

– The exhaust system has twin catalytic converters and employs O2 feedback to the electronic fuel injection system to produce optimum combustion efficiency and reduce emissions to an incredibly low level.

– The fuel-injection system employs Suzuki’s innovative SDTV (Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve) on 39mm throttle bodies. The secondary throttle valves are controlled by a servo motor for smooth power delivery.

– Long-nosed 10-hole fuel injectors on each throttle body improve fuel atomization for better combustion efficiency while reducing fuel consumption.

– Suzuki’s patented Throttle-body Integrated Idle Speed Control (TI-ISC) stabilizes the engine idle speed and helps lower emissions. The system is compact and lightweight.

– Suzuki’s Low RPM Assist feature leverages TI-ISC to seamlessly adjust engine speed to smooth power delivery during standing starts and low-speed riding. It also helps reduce the possibility of the rider stalling the motorcycle.

– The Engine Control Module (ECM) helps realize state-of-the-art engine management and has enhanced settings to suit the updated intake and exhaust systems, resulting in better fuel economy and linear throttle response.

– The engine uses Suzuki’s Dual Spark Technology heads with two high-energy, slim electrode spark plugs per cylinder, which aid in combustion efficiency and power production.

– The V-Strom 650/XT is equipped with Suzuki’s Advanced Traction Control System*, which lets the rider control the throttle with more confidence in various riding conditions. It continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle opening, engine speed, and the selected transmission gear to adjust engine output if wheel spin is detected.

– There are three traction control modes (1, 2, and OFF), and the difference between the modes is their sensitivity to road conditions. Mode 1 is the lower sensitivity level, most suitable for skilled riders or in conditions that have good road surface grip (riding on good, smooth roads). Mode 2 is the higher sensitivity level, suitable for road conditions where the grip may be limited (wet or cold surfaces). OFF disengages all traction control features.

– This V-Strom also features the Suzuki Easy Start System, which lets the rider start the motorcycle with one quick press of the start button, and without pulling in the clutch lever when the transmission is in neutral.

– The compact radiator is flanked by wind-directing plates that enhance cooling efficiency and direct heat out of the side vents away from the rider’s legs.

– The 6-speed transmission suits sporty rides with tight first through fifth gear ratios and a tall top gear (sixth gear) for highway cruising.

– Low-maintenance, long-life sealed O-ring drive chain is standard.

Chassis Features

– The beak-style fairing, with vertically stacked headlights and a new mounting structure, helps the V-Strom 650/XT cut through the wind and protect the rider in style.

– The three-way height-adjustable windscreen was wind tunnel tested to reduce wind noise, buffeting, and rider fatigue.

– The fuel tank has a generous 20.0L capacity but is shaped to be thin at the rear to flow into the slimmer seat, so it aids the rider in touching the ground at stops.

– The spacious two-up seat combines smooth and slip-resistant surfaces, plus an embossed V-Strom logo.

– The lightweight, rigid twin-spar aluminum frame and swingarm contribute to smooth handling performance and excellent stability.

– Spring-preload-adjustable 43mm front forks and link-type rear suspension are combined with a rebound damping adjustment and hand-operated spring preload adjuster.

– The sporty 10-spoke cast aluminum wheels on the V-Strom 650 help maximize road holding ability and reduce weight.

– The V-Strom 650XT features wire-spoked wheels with aluminum rims that absorb shock better on rough surfaces due to the flexible character of spokes.

– A 19-inch front and 17-inch rear Bridgestone BATTLAX ADVENTURE A40 tubeless radial tire is mounted to the wheels for all-around good performance.

– Front dual 310mm disc brakes and a rear 260mm disc brake deliver controlled stopping power.

– A compact Anti-lock Brake System (ABS)** monitors wheel speed to match braking to available traction.

– The lightweight rear carrier incorporates easy-to-grasp grab bars and aligns with the passenger section of the seat, offering a larger surface for carrying cargo or luggage.

– The V-Strom 650XT comes with knuckle covers and a protective engine under cowling.

Electrical Features

– The multifunction instrument panel features brightness-adjustable LED backlighting for its large diameter analog tachometer, digital speedometer, and LCD display.

– LCD readouts include odometer, dual trip meter, traction control modes, gear position, coolant and ambient temperature, fuel consumption, fuel gauge, and clock. Switching between readings can be done with the left handlebar switch.

– LED indicators include an ABS alert and a freeze warning icon, which together with the air temperature display warn of possible icy road conditions.

– The stacked, 65/55-watt halogen headlamps illuminate the road when riding at night.

– The LED tail and brake lights are bright and vibration resistant. The turn signals use bright amber incandescent bulbs with clear lenses.

– A handy 12-volt DC outlet is mounted on the inner dash.

Additional Features

– Genuine Suzuki Accessories include side and top cases, engine guards, low- and high-profile seats, heated grips, hand guards, and more.

* The Traction Control System is not a substitute for the rider’s throttle control, and traction control cannot prevent loss of traction due to excessive speed when entering turns, or while braking, and it does not control front wheel traction.

** ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering. Please ride carefully and do not overly rely on ABS.

Dual Spark Technology

Each cylinder head is equipped with two iridium spark plugs. The ignition timing is controlled independently contributing to high combustion efficiency, higher power output, a more linear throttle response, easier engine startup and a more stable idle.

Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve System

Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel-injection system. In SDTV induction system, each throttle body barrel has two butterfly valves, a primary valve controlled by the twist grip and a secondary valve controlled by the ECM based on engine rpm, gear selection and the position of the primary valve. The secondary butterfly valve opens and closes to maintain ideal intake air velocity, improving high combustion efficiency, thus resulting in a linear throttle response, increased low-to-mid range torque.

Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material

Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) is Suzuki’s own nickel-silicon-carbide coating technique derived from racetrack experience. SCEM cylinders allow faster heat transfer and tighter piston-to-cylinder clearance, for superb durability and resistance to scuffing.

Low RPM Assist

Low RPM Assist uses the ISC mechanism to help raise engine rpm slightly in launching and riding at low speed. This new feature helps smoother operation when pulling away and when riding at slow speeds, this means it’s easier to pull away and easier to control the engine in stop-start traffic.

Suzuki Traction Control System

Suzuki Traction Control System continuously monitors front and rear wheel speeds, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor and gear position sensor, and quickly reduces engine output when wheel spin is detected. Engine output is controlled by managing ignition timing and air delivery to ensure smoother traction control operation. As a results rider can enjoy long distance riding more comfortable, with less stress and fatigue.

Suzuki Easy Start System

On a normal motorcycle when starting the engine, the rider needs to press and hold the starter switch until the engine fires up. With the Suzuki Easy Start, all you need to do is one quick push of the starter switch, just like starting a modern car engine. The ECM recognizes the signals and keeps the starter motor working for a specified time.

Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System

The Suzuki Advanced Immobilizer System (SAIS) uses an electronic identification system in the owner’s key to prevent unauthorized people from starting the engine. * Not available for North American spec.

EURO 5 conformed

Only models with European specifications comply with the EURO 5 emission regulations.

Antilock Brake System

An electrically controlled Antilock Brake System (ABS) that produces stable braking force under various road surface conditions. The system helps avoid wheel locking when there is a sudden change in road surface during braking or when an excessive braking force is applied. The system monitors wheel speed, and matches stopping power to available traction. * ABS is not designed to shorten the braking distance. Please always ride at a safe speed for road and weather conditions, including while cornering.
