Well, well, well. They say those who know history are doomed to repeat it by those who don’t. Welcome to 1983 all over again. TMW warned readers multiple times over the past two years motorcycle prices could go up by 50% or more, now and here we are. I hate being right when it costs more for everyone. Let’s start with the good news. Suzuki has released a slew of new 2027 motorcycles for riders, right here on Total Motorcycle! Personally I love the new 2027 Suzuki GSX-8TT red, black and gold color combo, but then again, I’m a sucker for such colors and I know Suzuki knows that… not that they made this bike colors for me… or did they? Is my LG AI TV listening to me too? Flock camera’s watching my movements or those weather changing chem trails have something to do with it? Hmm…. Oh, yes, anyways; motorcycles! That’s right. Focus.
Oh, before I start into it, two week ago I started ⭐ Support and Ride Ad‑Free ⭐ campaign on TMW. For a tiny amount monthly or yearly, you can support the site and go 100% ad free!! It’s been decades in the offer and I’m happy to offer that. Consider a $1 donation if anything please. AI is killing me over here.
As a motorcycle fan, you are going to be very happy with what Suzuki has for you in 2027. Well, unless you are a cruiser fan, which case I’m not sure what’s happening there as we didn’t see Suzuki Boulevard cruisers for 2026 and no word on 2027 either, Suzuki made great cruisers too in the past… maybe they are redesigning them, yes, that’s it! Cheaper, more powerful and they’ll blow away anything Harley-Davidson or Indian Motorcycle can make. Yep, going with that one gang.
For non-cruisers, there are over 25 new models and what’s great to see is the return of the sportbike and sports bike (yes, they are different). In the past few years sportsbike models were getting pretty rare and it was looking they were indeed going the way of cruisers. Maybe 2027 is a blip from just Suzuki, but you’ll need to vote with your dollar and buy them if you want them to stick around.

For standards, and I love me a great standard. We have 2 coming to North America this year from Europe. The 2027 Suzuki SV7-GX and 2027 Suzuki SV7-GXV based off the SV650. From $8400 to $8600 USD you get yourself a 645cc V-Twin from the SV650 (sadly, a 25 year old design one, but hey, it’s affordable), a manual transmission (unlike the hybrid auto ones few want), a lightweight tubular steel trellis frame, adjustable windscreen, dynamic front cowl inspired by the GSX-S1000GX and you can even great accessory luggage too! For those wondering, the “V” version, I believe, is for “value”, as the non-V has all the colors parts and rims for $200 more. Otherwise, I can’t see a difference and I’d pay $200 more for colored parts myself so it’s a good deal (and I’m cheap).

For those adventurous folks and those who love those dual sports and supermotos, we do see a new model arrive with the 2027 Suzuki DR-Z4S+. The DR-Z4S+ is equipped as standard equipment with a rugged Skid Plate, Handguards plus front and rear Brake Rotor Guards. But that BEST feature, IMO, is that a rider can TURN OFF technology if you choose. “Suzuki Drive Mode Selector, Suzuki Traction Control System and ABS that can be turned off to match the rider’s preferences for riding on unpaved roads and dirt.” YES PLEASE. Sadly, the Supermoto 2027 Suzuki DR-Z4SM version of the same bikes doesn’t offer that. BOOO Suzuki. And for V-Strom’s, just the two 1050’s are released right now.

Ok, so that gives you a good 30,000 foot view on the new 2027 Suzuki’s. Now onto the…
50% Bike Tariffs and Motorcycle BAN!!
Argh. Ok, a little history.
Reagan’s Bold Move: The 1983 Tariff. In April 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a five-year tariff plan, dramatically increasing the import duty on Japanese motorcycles over 700cc:
1983: 45%
1984: 35%
1985: 20%
1986: 15%
1987: 10% (back to normal levels)
Today, we are starting at 50% at a minimum and complete ban on the USA side. It is in place NOW and is effect on 800cc+ motorcycles between the US and Canada Canadian Side: 50% Tariff on US-Origin Motorcycles US Side: Import Ban on Canadian-Origin Motorcycles and Does Affect Used Motorcycles. Many readers asked more about USED BIKES, and here is what I found: US rules still apply to any vehicle import . These are independent of the Section 338 ban. On the Canadian side, the 50% tariff similarly targets US-origin goods meeting the criteria; used status does not automatically exempt them.
Who knows how long these will stay in effect, but it won’t be positive for anyone wanting a motorcycle or get into the sport. NO ONE WANTS TO PAY 50% MORE!
So there you have it for this week. Plus more new 2027’s are up than the Suzuki’s too so check out my 2027 Motorcycle Model Guides.
AND, Total Motorcycle is AI slop free, everything above was written by me, a human and not some worthless AI drivel. Support that if you enjoy creativity and keeping people employed.
Retro 8TT revealed in red for 2027
Suzuki’s GSX-8TT will come in a new Candy Daring Red colour scheme for 2027.
The modern retro machine, which is built on Suzuki’s award-winning 800cc platform and wraps that modern day performance in bodywork that draws inspiration from the GS1000S, will be available in a brace of colours, with the new red addition joining the Glass Sparkle Black variant.
The new Candy Daring Red option sees the nose cone, which bears more than a passing resemblance to the 1979 GS1000S, finished in the deep, rich red, along with the fuel tank and seat unit. The cowling and the fuel tank are adorned with gold and black striped decals, while the model name decal on the seat unit uses the same colours.
The gold is also present in the wheels, with the radiator shrouds, mudguard, and lower cowling all finished in black.
Underneath its retro aesthetic is a torque-laded parallel twin engine and an electronics package that includes a colour TFT screen, selectable power modes and traction control settings, and a bi-directional quickshifter, all backed up with Suzuki’s up-to 10-year warranty.
It comes with an RRP of £8,999 and is available in authorised Suzuki dealerships now.
