HISTORY
Over the years, Honda’s small-displacement four-stroke off-road bikes have been enjoyed by riders of widely varying experience and skill levels, earning a reputation for being extremely fun and durable.
Introduced for the 2014 year as a replacement for the CRF80F and CRF100F, Honda’s CRF125F has always been offered in two sizes—a standard version and (for larger riders) a Big Wheel version with bigger-diameter wheels, increased suspension travel and a higher seat.
A series of popular enhancements came for the 2019 model year, including electronic fuel injection, updates to the frame and bodywork, and increased suspension travel.
Honda Confirms Return of Three CRF Trail Models for 2026
Over the years, Honda’s CRF-F family of trailbike models has welcomed legions of new riders to the world of dirt-bike riding, and that tradition is set to continue given today’s announcement that the CRF50F, CRF110F and CRF125F are returning for the 2026 model year. Fun, reliable, affordable and approachable, these machines open the door to outdoor motorized recreation. Legal in off-road parks across the nation, they’re the perfect entry to a lifetime of outdoor adventure.
“Ask any dirt-bike enthusiast how they got their start—even some of the top racers on start lines at major racing events—and there’s a very good chance they’ll say it was on a Honda trail bike,” said Colin Miller, American Honda Manager of Public Relations. “We’re extremely proud of that legacy, and with the current family of CRF-F models, it’s sure to continue for years to come. We look forward to introducing more and more riders to the sport, and you never know—today’s CRF-F rider could be tomorrow’s Jett Lawrence or Mikayla Nielsen.”
2026 Honda CRF125F Big Wheel Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
Reliable engine
The 125cc single-cylinder four-stroke engine has a broad powerband and offers dependable performance for beginners. Fuel injection enhances its efficiency.
Fuel injection
Fuel injection means it starts right up, even in cold weather. Compared to a carbureted bike, it also helps reduce emissions and enhance performance and fuel efficiency.
Steel frame and swingarm
We designed these bikes with strong, twin-spar-type steel frames and swingarms that can handle the bumps and dings of off-road riding.
Pro-Link® rear suspension
Our Pro-Link® progressive suspension connects a single heavy-duty shock to the swingarm, delivering an excellent combination over a wide range of riding conditions.
Front disc brake
The front disc brake provides superior stopping power, and the front disc rotor is drilled for lightness and better wet-weather performance.
Proven manual clutch
The heavy-duty traditional manual clutch is durable and helps promote smooth shifting.
Four-speed transmission
The four-speed gearbox is identical to a full-sized off-road motorcycle, providing complete control.
Sealed battery
A maintenance-free sealed battery helps ensure that the bike is ready to ride whenever you are.
Clean-running engine
Another benefit of fitting it with fuel injection? It meets California’s stringent CARB emissions standards for off-road motorcycles.
Stylish and tough bodywork
This bike can handle the hard knocks of learning riders. The tough plastic fenders, tank, and other body parts are inspired by our CRF motocross bikes and engineered to shrug off minor dings.
Big Wheel version
Looking for something a little larger? Check out our Big Wheel trim—the same great bike but a better fit for taller riders with its larger wheels giving it a higher seat height and an additional two inches of ground clearance.
Half-waffle grips
Just like the pros use, this bike gets half-waffle pattern grips. Might as well start off right!
Low seat height
It’s important to have a bike sized right for your rider. The standard model features a low 29.1-inch seat height, which helps build confidence right from the start.
Electric starter
The push-button starter is designed to add minimal weight and make starting easier in all conditions.
Keyed ignition switch
A keyed ignition switch allows you to control who can ride the vehicle, which is especially important if younger riders are in the home.
STYLING / DESIGN
Designed with modern aesthetics, both versions of the CRF125F feature bodywork and graphics that are inspired by those of the CRF Performance line. The same goes for the frame design; in this case it is constructed of steel rather than aluminum, and it protects the fuel tank in the event of a fall.
The half-waffle grips are comfortable for hands of varying sizes, and the front brake lever is adjustable. A handlebar-mounted multifunction switch includes the starter button, ignition indicator, fuel-injection system status and a low-fuel light that illuminates when only .2 gallons remain.
ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN
The CRF125F’s 124.9cc single-overhead cam engine has bore and stroke dimensions of 52.4mm and 57.9mm, respectively. An electronically controlled Keihin fuel-injection system keeps the engine running cleanly and smoothly, and reduces maintenance. The power plant is tuned to produce good low-end torque right off idle, making it easy for new riders to learn how to take off from a standing start, while also quickly becoming skilled at the many other nuances of manual-clutch operation and gear shifts. There’s also plenty of pull throughout the powerband, enough to make both versions a wonderful means to go exploring. A convenient electric starter helps make life easy out on the trail, and there’s a backup kickstart as well. Both versions of the CRF125F are 50-state off-road legal.
CHASSIS / SUSPENSION
The CRF125F and CRF125F Big Wheel are designed to cater to different rider sizes and preferences, with the former featuring a 29.1-inch seat height and 17- and 14-inch front and rear wheels, respectively, while the Big Wheel version offers a taller 30.9-inch seat height and larger 19- and 16-inch wheels. Both models share a twin-spar steel frame featuring architecture inspired by the CRF Performance line, with a balance of rigidity and comfort that is ideal for trail riding. The 1-gallon steel fuel tank features an integrated fuel pump and filter.
The 31mm conventional fork provides a plush ride, while the rear-suspension system uses a Pro-Link® design with a single shock for consistent performance. Smooth, reliable stopping power is provided by a hydraulic front brake with a 220mm rotor and a 95mm rear drum brake.
