ELECTRONIC THROTTLE VALVES
Electronic Throttle Valves (ETV) enhance performance and enable the ECU to control the volume of both the fuel (via fuel injectors) and the air (via throttle valves) delivered to the engine. Ideal Fuel Injection (FI) and throttle valve position results in smooth, natural engine response and the ideal engine output. Thanks to the FI and ETV settings, response is both quick and silky smooth – a characteristic that facilitates control and contributes to sport riding potential.
FLOW MAXIMIZED
The cool air system routes cool air to the airbox from ducts at the front of the side fairings, minimizing performance loss due to heated intake air. The intake ports were optimized to suit the throttle body change and an intoxicating intake howl contributes to the engine feel enhancing the senses with every twist of the throttle. AWASAKI QUICK SHIFTER
Complementing the exhilarating engine character, the dual-direction contactless-type Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS) enables clutchless upshifts and downshifts for seamless acceleration and quick and easy deceleration. During acceleration, the system detects that the shift lever has been actuated and sends a signal to the ECU to retard ignition so that the next gear can be engaged without having to use the clutch. During deceleration, the KQS system automatically controls engine speed, allowing you to downshift without operating the clutch.

KCMF helps facilitate a smooth transition from accelerating to braking and accelerating again, assisting in tracing your intended line through the turn. It also uses Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) feedback to oversee Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC) and Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) systems.
INERTIAL MEASUREMENT UNIT
The use of a compact Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) allows an additional layer of precision to be added to the already high-level KTRC and KIBS systems. IMU enables inertia monitoring along 6 Degrees of Freedom. Acceleration along longitudinal, transverse, and vertical axes, plus roll rate and pitch rate are measured. The yaw rate is calculated by the ECU using Kawasaki’s proprietary dynamic modeling software. Additional feedback from the IMU gives an even clearer real-time picture of chassis orientation.
KAWASAKI TRACTION CONTROL
Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) provides both enhanced sport riding performance and the confidence to negotiate low-traction surfaces. Three rider-selectable modes offer progressively greater levels of intrusion to suit the riding situation and your preference:
– Mode 1 provides the least amount of assistance with sport riding in mind.
– Mode 2 offers earlier assistance and features balanced sport riding support.

KAWASAKI INTELLIGENT ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM
Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) is a supersport-grade, multi-sensing brake management system that uses high-precision control to modulate brake pressure in much smaller increments than with standard ABS systems. By accounting for back-torque, KIBS is able to offer increased rear brake control during downshifts. With feedback from the IMU, KIBS is also able to incorporate corner braking management.

ONE-TOUCH SIMPLICITY
Kawasaki’s cruise control system allows speed to be maintained with the simple press of a button on the left handle. Once activated, you don’t have to constantly apply the throttle, reducing stress on the right hand when traveling long distances, enabling relaxed cruising and contributing to a high level of riding comfort.
Once the desired speed has been selected, engine output is adjusted automatically via the Electronic Throttle Valves to maintain speed when ascending or descending grades are encountered. Operating the brake lever, clutch lever or rear brake pedal, or shifting gears causes the Electronic Cruise Control to be disengaged. Closing the throttle beyond the “zero-throttle” position is another instinctive way to disengage the system.
5-IN FULL-COLOR TFT
New 5-in all-digital TFT color instrumentation delivers a high level of visibility and lends the cockpit a high-tech appearance. The screen’s background color automatically changes from white to black when ambient light is low, or it can be manually set per your preference. Screen brightness is also adjusted automatically to suit available ambient light.
The display can be switched between two display types. Type 1 shows a bar-style tachometer along the top with vital vehicle information or turn-by-turn directions below it if in use. Type 2 shows a hexagonal tachometer with either an aviation-style attitude indicator-inspired lean angle indicator or turn-by-turn directions in the center.
EASY CONNECTIVITY
Technology within the instrument panel lets you connect to the motorcycle wirelessly. ENGINE

A distinctive intake howl, sharp throttle feel, and strong over-rev characteristics complete the exhilarating engine character.
Contributing to this performance is a suite of advanced intake and fueling technologies. The 38mm downdraft throttle bodies promote efficient airflow, while optimized intake ports increase intake velocity in the low- to mid-rpm range, enhancing torque output and fuel efficiency. Cam profiles, valve lift and valve springs were designed specifically for this engine, contributing to strong low-end response and economy. The flywheel helps smooth engine response and boosts rideability at lower engine speeds, while the piston shape and inter-cylinder passageways help to reduce pumping losses at high rpm.
The new Z1100 SE ABS also benefits from optimized gearing across all six gears, with long ratios in 5th and 6th gears to improve comfort during highway cruising. For instance, at 62 mph in 6th gear, the engine runs at approximately 4,000 rpm. Combined with optimized primary and secondary reduction ratios, the result is a broad performance envelope that adapts well to a variety of riding conditions. A secondary balancer gear smooths out excess engine vibrations while preserving the engine feel that defines the Z Supernaked experience.
Cooling and exhaust systems were also designed to support the 1,099cc displacement. A large radiator assists heat dissipation, while the 4-2-1 exhaust system – with added joint pipes and an under-engine pre-chamber – delivers both performance and centralized mass. The system includes three catalyzers and dual O2 sensors for cleaner emissions, while the high-mounted silencer accentuates the dynamic sugomi-inspired styling.
The race-derived Assist & Slipper Clutch ensures smooth, confident shifting. Mass centralization was a top priority in the chassis design, evident in the strategic placement of components like the large exhaust pre-chamber and the horizontal back-link rear suspension. SUSPENSION
Kawasaki’s Z1100 SE ABS delivers sharp, responsive handling in large part thanks to its advanced suspension components, led by the Showa Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) up front. This innovative design combines the best of Showa’s SFF and BPF technologies to provide an ideal balance of comfort and performance for street riding. Featuring springs on both sides, the fork separates preload adjustment (left tube) from damping duties (right tube), offering precision tuning with ease. The result is a front end that’s composed under braking and highly controlled during corner entries.
The SFF-BP’s large-diameter damping piston enables reduced internal pressure while maintaining effective damping force, allowing smoother movement—especially noticeable in the early stages of fork compression. This contributes to excellent stability as the chassis settles under braking and weight transfers forward. With all adjusters conveniently located on the top caps, riders can fine-tune preload, compression, and rebound with minimal effort.
