Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 15 October 2026 – Buying a Panigale V4 means embracing the legacy of nearly forty years of successes, developments and innovations that have shaped the history of superbikes. It is a legacy unmatched by any other brand in this segment—spanning seven generations of superbikes that have starred in epic races in the hands of the most beloved riders in production-based world championships, culminating in the historic dominance of the 2026 World Superbike Championship. With the version unveiled at WDW 2024, Ducati fielded a Panigale V4 in the Race of Champions that was a full second faster than the previous model. Now, two years after that launch, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer presents its evolution: the Panigale V4 MY2027.
To create the Panigale V4 MY2027, Ducati focused on every single detail that could enhance performance—just as it does in competition. Leveraging the experience gained in racing—where the seventh-generation Ducati superbike secured the world championship title and various national rider and manufacturer titles upon its debut*—the Borgo Panigale manufacturer has developed the V4 to make it even faster and more effective on the track.
Ducati has refined the engine, aerodynamics, chassis and electronics, honing every aspect of the bike with a single goal: to boost its potential and allow the rider to exploit it more effectively. The result is a Panigale V4 that delivers higher performance and is more intuitive and accessible when riding at the limit.
The Desmosedici Stradale engine now produces 218 hp (+2 hp), thanks to modifications that improve airflow and reduce mechanical friction. Adopting longer final gearing and raising the rev limiter by 500 rpm allows for better utilization of high-end power, reducing the number of gear shifts required per lap.
At the same time, Ducati has improved the bike’s dynamic behaviour during the most critical phases of sports riding—braking, turn-in, mid-corner and exit—by introducing significant chassis and electronic updates.
The effectiveness of the entire package is confirmed by tests conducted at the Vallelunga circuit, where the new Panigale V4 recorded an average lap time improvement of 0.4 seconds compared to the previous model. Many of the features found on the Panigale V4 MY27 were also tested and validated in race conditions by Ducati riders during the Lenovo Race of Champions, contributing to a 0.7-second improvement on the pole position record set by Nicolò Bulega.
The new Panigale V4 (S version) also joins the Ducati Factory Made program, offering levels of customization unmatched by any other motorcycle brand in the world. Customers can choose from 11 different colours—including five taken directly from Automobili Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program—as well as two liveries and a range of homologated accessories installed directly during production, allowing every Ducatista to create the Panigale V4 of their dreams.
More powerful and efficient Desmosedici Stradale engine
At the heart of the new Panigale V4 S lies the Desmosedici Stradale, the engine that represents the most direct technological link between Ducati’s production superbikes and the expertise gained in MotoGP. For the 2027 Model Year, updates focus on optimizing the engine’s overall efficiency through a revised exhaust system, a new high-flow air intake (+0.6% at 300 km/h) and a recalibrated lubrication circuit to reduce power loss.
These modifications boost peak power to 218 hp (+2 hp) in the Euro5+ homologated configuration, with the greatest gains occurring between 12,000 and 14,000 rpm, including a peak increase of 3.5 hp at 13,000 rpm. The tangible benefit is even more effective drive during the decisive phases of a lap, when every tenth of a second depends on the ability to accelerate harder and for longer.
In addition to this improvement, at high speeds there is a further increase thanks to the new air intake, which delivers an extra 1.3 CV at 300 km/h.
To make the most of the engine’s increased potential, Ducati has adopted longer final gearing (17/42 instead of 16/41) and raised the rev limiter to 15,000 rpm in gears two through five. This solution allows the rider to stay in the optimal gear for longer, reducing the number of gear shifts and enabling greater focus on racing lines and riding technique. At Vallelunga, this translates to two fewer gear shifts per lap.
For those seeking the ultimate track performance, the new Akrapovič Full Racing Exhaust PRO is also available; it adds 11 hp and 7 Nm of torque while simultaneously reducing the bike’s weight by 6.6 kg. The rider benefits from a bike that accelerates more effectively, reacts more quickly to changes of direction and delivers performance closer to that of a true race bike.
Chassis: better feeling, more grip, higher mid-corner speed
When working on a bike that is already at the top of its class, the most significant improvements come from refining the overall balance. As a result, Ducati engineers focused their efforts on the ability of the chassis of the new Panigale V4 S to maximize tyre performance at extreme lean angles.
The key modification involves the Front Frame, where lateral stiffness has been reduced by 12%, improving the bike’s ability to keep the tyre in contact with the asphalt at high lean angles. For the rider, this results in increased front-end grip, more precise feel during turn-in and an improved ability to tighten the line toward the apex. This, in turn, makes it possible to maintain higher cornering speeds and open the throttle earlier when exiting a turn.
The new final drive ratio also indirectly contributes to the bike’s dynamic behaviour. By effectively reducing the wheelbase by 8 mm, it makes the Panigale V4 S even quicker in changes of direction. For the rider, this translates into greater nimbleness on twisty sections, making the bike more usable and less physically demanding.
The V4 S version also introduces new adjustable clip-on handlebars designed for track use. Raising them by 10 mm creates a higher riding position, following the trend seen in MotoGP development over recent years. This gives the rider better leverage on the handlebars, resulting in improved control and reduced physical effort during direction changes and prolonged, heavy braking. **
Electronics
The electronics on the new Panigale V4 S take another step forward by bringing management strategies to the production bike that allow riders to experience sensations and riding techniques increasingly similar to those of official Ducati MotoGP and Superbike riders.
The key new feature is Dynamic Engine Brake; this system replaces the previous Engine Brake Control and uses the DVO (Ducati Vehicle Observer) algorithm to modulate engine braking based on the actual load on the rear tyre. This results in more predictable behaviour upon corner entry, greater stability when braking at lean angles and increased confidence when riding at the limit.
Alongside Dynamic Engine Brake, the new Race Brake Control makes its debut, derived directly from experience gained with the most exclusive models in the Ducati range. The system increases the rear wheel’s contribution during deceleration, allowing for more effective use of available grip.
Working in tandem, Dynamic Engine Brake and Race Brake Control allow the rider to harness rear-wheel braking power typically reserved for professionals. This enables later braking points, allowing riders to maintain speed into corners and execute tighter, more efficient lines. The result is a significant boost in lap efficiency, coupled with a sense of control and confidence for a much wider range of riders.
Customization
For the first time, the Panigale—specifically the V4 S model—joins the Ducati Factory Made program, expanding customization options directly at the production stage.
Ducati enthusiasts can choose from eleven different colour schemes, including five options drawn directly from the Automobili Lamborghini Ad Personam program, alongside the Corse and Performance liveries. The offering also includes a selection of homologated components that can be factory-installed, such as the Front Brake PRO and PRO+ packages, the STM dry clutch, and adjustable footpegs. Customers thus receive a motorcycle already configured to their preferences, eliminating the need for subsequent installations, offering the advantage of a perfectly integrated solution validated by Ducati, while maintaining the authenticity and quality guaranteed by Borgo Panigale production.
Availability
The new Panigale V4 will be available at European Ducati dealerships starting in March 2027 and at North American dealerships from April. Distribution will continue in other countries in the following months.
2027 Ducati Panigale V4 Totalmotorcycle.com Features and Benefits
Electronics package derived from the Superleggera V4 Centenario
Derived from the Superleggera V4 Centenario, the electronics package on the Panigale V4 introduces new control strategies designed to improve precision, stability and performance on track. New features include the Race Brake Control, with dedicated track strategies, and the Dynamic Engine Brake Control, which develops the engine brake management on corner entry. The Ducati Quick Shift uses the calibrations of the V4 R. All controls exploit the Ducati Vehicle Observer, the algorithm developed by Ducati Corse that allows for more accurate intervention and an even more efficient response when riding at the limit.
New Dynamic Engine Brake Control
The new Dynamic Engine Brake Control (DEB) evolves the traditional concept of the engine brake by combining engine management with automatic rear brake activation. Thanks to the Ducati Vehicle Observer, it improves stability, precision and control into the corner, giving the rider greater confidence when braking hard.
More flexible Front Frame and adjustable semi-handlebars
A Front Frame with lateral stiffness reduced by 12% improves contact with the asphalt at extreme lean angles. The result is better grip, greater confidence when cornering and a more precise trajectory through every cornering phase. The new black finish emphasizes the technical and racing character. On the Panigale V4 S, the semi-handlebars can be positioned 10 mm higher than the standard configuration. This configuration, reserved for track use, increases the steering leverage, improves bike control during more demanding riding phases and reduces physical effort during hard braking.
New sports air filter
The new high-flow air filter optimizes intake flow and reduces pressure drop with respect to a conventional system. An intervention design to improve the efficiency of the Desmosedici Stradale at high rpms.
Desmosedici Stradale engine
The 1103 cc, 209 hp Desmosedici Stradale engine brings technology developed through Ducati experience in MotoGP to the Panigale V4. The 90° V4 architecture, rotated backwards by 42°, is combined with the Desmodromic valve system, counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order. Further refinements to the intake, exhaust and lubrication system increase power at high rpm, while the rev limit is raised by 500 rpm to 15,000 rpm in second to fifth gears, allowing the Desmosedici Stradale’s performance to be exploited for longer. In combination with a longer final drive ratio (17/42 vs the previous 16/41), the Panigale V4 reduces the number of gear changes through more technical sections of the circuit, turning the performance gain into a tangible advantage on track.
Recalibrated oil circuit
The oil circuit has been recalibrated according to Ducati Corse’s philosophy in MotoGP whereby the oil flow rate is adjusted to minimise mechanical losses. In fact, on the 2027 Panigale V4 the maximum oil flow rate into the engine has been reduced by 10%, this too contributing to the increase in power.
New silencer with increased diameter
The new silencer with increased diameter (Ø 38 mm vs the previous Ø 36 mm) reduces the system’s back pressure and improves the efficiency of the Desmosedici Stradale at high rpm. A solution developed to boost performance and optimize power delivery in the higher, sportier rev range.
Shortened wheelbase
Lengthening the final drive ratio has allowed the wheelbase to be shortened by 8 mm, improving agility when changing direction.
Inside the Panigale world.
Ducati champions, test riders and key figures introduce us to the Panigale world. From Fogarty to Bayliss, from Bautista to Bulega, a tale that spans generations of riders and a shared passion for performance.
The beauty of performance.
While retaining the clean proportions and balanced style introduced with the sixth generation, the Panigale V4 integrates new aerodynamic elements developed to increase efficiency at high speed.
A solution that confirms the project’s guiding principle: a form born of function, where performance and design evolve in perfect harmony.
Flyline
The flyline of the Panigale V4 is shaped by performance. Every surface is crafted to manage aerodynamic flow and improve the bike’s efficiency at high speeds.
The new aerodynamic elements integrate into the shapes of the fairing with continuity and precision, strengthening the bond between design and function. The result is an even more efficient Panigale V4, but one that preserves the clean lines for which it is known.
New front air duct
The intake duct on the 2027 Panigale V4 is redesigned, introducing that already seen on the Panigale V4 R. The lower edge of the air duct is extended outward by 2.7 inches (70mm), a modification designed to capture a greater quantity of air at high speed. This improvement translates into a measurable increase in air pressure at the intake filter, equating to roughly +0.6% at 186 mph (300 km/h). The increase in air pressure translates, in turn, into a power increase of 1.3 hp at 186 mph (300 km/h).
Dual-profile winglets with enlarged endplates
Perfectly integrated into the form of the fairing, the new dual-profile winglets feature enlarged endplates to increase efficiency.
Lightweight and immediately recognisable new graphics
The graphics of the Panigale V4 follow the same logic that guides the design of the bike: essentiality, precision and function. A light touch, designed to emphasize the surfaces without adding any visual bulk and leave the project’s clean lines and technical character to emerge. A sharp, distinctive visual presence that is unmistakably Ducati.
More power at high revs.
The Panigale V4 develops the Desmosedici Stradale with refinements to the intake, exhaust and lubrication system. A raised rev limit and longer final drive ratio allow the engine’s thrust at high revs to be fully exploited, helping to lower lap times by an average of 4 tenths*.
*Value based on the EU configuration.
1103 cc Desmosedici Stradale
The 1103 cc Desmosedici Stradale brings solutions deriving directly from Ducati’s experience in MotoGP to the Panigale V4. The 90° V4 architecture, Desmodromic valve system, counter-rotating crankshaft and Twin Pulse firing order all contribute to defining the engine’s unique character.
For this evolution, the intake and exhaust systems are optimized to increase the power by 2 hp at high revs. The limiter, raised to 15,000 rpm from second to fifth gear, allows the rider to make use of the power curve for longer. In combination with the longer final drive, the Desmosedici Stradale reduces the number of gear changes through more technical sections of the circuit, turning the performance gain into a tangible advantage on track.
Desmodromic system as on the MotoGP
The Desmodromic system is one of the distinctive elements of the Desmosedici Stradale. Unlike a traditional spring-valve system, it directly controls valve opening and closing, guaranteeing maximum precision also at high engine speeds.
A solution that allows the Ducati V4 to exploit high-performance cam profiles, contributing to the performance of the engine and its ability to express all the available power beyond 14,000 rpm.
Counter-rotating crankshaft
As on the MotoGP prototypes, the crankshaft is counter rotating or rather rotated in the opposite direction to the wheels to counteract the gyroscopic effect and ensure handling and agility in the changes of direction, as well as reduce the tendency to wheelie under acceleration and braking.
Twin Pulse firing order
The 70° offset between the crankpins combined with the 90° V-layout of the engine generates a firing order that Ducati calls “Twin Pulse”, because it is as if the engine were reproducing the firing sequence of a twin. The distinctiveness lies in the fact that the two left-hand cylinders fire closely together, as do the two right-hand ones. On the timing chart, the ignition points are at 0°, 90°, 290° and 380°. This particular firing order makes the V4 sound very similar to the MotoGP Desmosedici.
Higher speed through the turns. Lower lap times.
Greater control during more intense riding. The Panigale V4 develops its chassis to offer even more precise management, thanks to a Front Frame designed to work more efficiently with the tires at high lean angles. Its lower lateral stiffness contributes to increasing the grip so that the rider can corner with greater precision, fully exploiting the Panigale’s potential.
An advanced chassis for greater control.
The continual pursuit of performance guides the chassis development of the 2027 Panigale V4. The new Front Frame with lower lateral stiffness improves grip, precision and feeling through the turns.
Ducati Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm
Lightweight, sophisticated and functional, the Ducati Hollow Symmetrical Swingarm contributes to the dynamic behavior of the Panigale V4 by improving grip, precision and stability under acceleration. A solution designed to offer the rider a more direct connection with the bike and greater control during more demanding riding phases on track.
MotoGP-derived Front Frame
The Front Frame of the 2027 Panigale V4 evolves to offer greater grip and feeling and an even more precise response when riding at the limit.
The Front Frame has lower lateral stiffness, designed to generate more grip and offer the rider even more precise feeling.
The lower fastenings of the Front Frame have been machined to remove material and obtain the desired reduction in lateral stiffness. With respect to the previous frame, lateral stiffness is reduced by 12%.
The greater flexibility increases the bike’s ability to absorb bumps when leaning at high angles, maximizing tire grip and maximizing the potential in terms of corner speed.
The frame modification also increases the bike’s tendency to hold its line, allowing the rider to take corners more tightly and open the throttle earlier.
For the rider, this translates into greater cornering speed, thanks to the possibility to achieve greater lean angles and, consequently, quicker lap times.
Forged wheels with a MotoGP-inspired design
The Panigale V4 S is equipped with aluminum alloy forged wheels developed according to a Ducati design and project. With a tangential five-spoke design inspired by that of the DesmosediciGP, they reduce overall weight by 4.78 lbs. (2.17 kg) and the moment of inertia (-22% at the front and -23.5% at the rear) with respect to the cast aluminum five-spoke Y-design wheels of the Panigale V4.
Ergonomics at the service of precision.
The ergonomics of the Panigale V4 are designed to allow the rider to fully exploit the bike’s potential. Every point of contact is conceived to ensure control, freedom of movement and support during the most demanding riding phases on track. A natural and efficient position that reduces fatigue and encourages maximum precision whether braking, shifting or accelerating.
Racing riding position
Developed for the track, the ergonomics of the Panigale V4 ensure the right balance of control, freedom of movement and aerodynamic efficiency. A configuration that helps the rider to maintain precision and confidence under hard braking, when moving in the seat, and at maximum acceleration.
Tank designed around the rider
Incredibly narrow, the tank is designed to improve the bike’s ergonomics and control, particularly under braking and when hanging off through the turn. The shape of the 4.5 gallon aluminum tank (17 liters), with a section that extends beneath the seat like on the race bike, allows the rider to assume the correct aerodynamic position along the straight. Thanks to deep grooves and side buffers, it also allows the rider to be more efficient under braking, taking the load off the arms and reducing physical effort. The specially shaped upper side surfaces also help the rider maintain the hanging-off position through the corner. In the front section, the space not occupied by fuel is used to house part of the electronics, for better weight distribution.
Adjustable semi-handlebars*
On the Panigale V4 S, the semi-handlebars can be positioned 10 mm higher with respect to the standard configuration, a solution inspired by today’s MotoGP bikes. This configuration increases the steering leverage, improves bike control during more demanding riding phases and reduces physical effort during hard braking. As it not possible to move the steering lock to the higher position, the adjustment is not homologated and is reserved for track use. *Function not approved for road use; intended exclusively for track use.
A seat designed around the rider
The seat of the Panigale V4 is designed to improve comfort and freedom of movement during sports riding. 1.3 in (35 mm) longer and 2 in (50 mm) wider than the previous generation, it offers the rider greater support during intense braking and facilitates the body’s movements when hanging off.
Thermal comfort
Air flow management aims to direct the heat generated by the rear bank away from the rider and improve riding comfort. Dedicated ducts integrated into the structure of the bike channel hot air towards the undertray, reducing the impact on the rider even during more intense usage.
Suspension for intelligent dynamics.
The Panigale V4 suspension is developed to maximize contact with the asphalt, improving grip, stability and control to offer an increasingly direct and precise feeling and allow the rider to best exploit the bike’s potential in extreme riding conditions.
Öhlins rear shock
The rear shock of the Panigale V4 has always used a setup inspired by the DesmosediciGP. The new design is aligned also for the single-link solution, which allows for a shortening of the shock and an overall weight saving of roughly 1.3 lbs. (600g). All the linkage joints use bearings instead of the plain bushes fitted to the previous model, reducing friction and mechanical play, for a rear section that better absorbs the bumps and maximizes mechanical grip.
Customizable suspension setting
The Panigale V4 offers a wide range of adjustment options to ensure a precise setup. The Öhlins hydraulic preload adjuster allows for quick changes to the rear suspension, adapting bike behavior to different conditions of use. Rounding out the package, the adjustable rear suspension link provides a wider range of rear ride-height adjustment. A solution that allows for customized bike geometry and heightens the agility, precision and feeling based on rider preference and track characteristics.
A riding experience that is closer than ever to that of professional riders.
The electronics package of the Panigale V4 derives from that of the Superleggera V4 Centenario. Powered by the Ducati Vehicle Observer and new strategies born of Ducati ingenuity, the updated controls deliver higher performance and greater precision, bringing the riding experience closer than ever to that of a professional rider.
Advanced electronics for maximum control
The electronics package on the Panigale V4 reaches new levels with the application of the Superleggera V4 Centenario’s riding controls. Controls that exploit the Ducati Vehicle Observer, an algorithm developed by Ducati Corse to ensure more effective handling.
Thanks to the DVO, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) heightens control of rear wheel slip, working more precisely and continuously during the maneuver to limit any loss of grip and subsequent recovery.
Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) also benefits from the introduction of the DVO, allowing for more accurate identification of wheelies and more precise intervention that is almost predictive.
Ducati Slide Control (DSC) supports the rider, controlling the amount of torque delivered depending on the slide angle. It operates thanks to the inertial platform and improves corner exit performance by preventing slide angles that would otherwise be difficult to manage. Ducati Power Launch (DPL) can guarantee lightning starts, allowing the rider to focus only on releasing the clutch. DPL also benefits from the introduction of DVO, helping to increase repeatability and boost rider confidence in the system.
The Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) 2.0 represents a significant evolution with respect to traditional systems, swapping the traditional lever with microswitch for a direct mechanical lever.
The electronic strategy of the DQS is entrusted to the positioning sensor on the gear drum that identifies the gear engaged, fiving the rider a more direct, consistent feel, with less of a ‘rubbery’ sensation and reduced lever travel, for a better overall riding experience. The DQS MY27 leverages the calibrations developed for the Panigale V4 R.
Cornering ABS with combined braking strategies for track and road
The Panigale V4 is equipped with Cornering ABS with combined braking strategies designed for both road and track. The road strategies, developed by Bosch, are the same as the previous generation and ensure greater safety and stability with respect to a traditional system. The track braking strategies, on the other hand, called Race Brake Control (RBC), were conceived by Ducati as it developed the Panigale V4 R. These strategies allow a rider to emulate the riding techniques of professional riders. The Race Brake Control (RBC) strategies also exploit the contribution of the rear brake much more than on the Panigale V4 thanks to a precision method of calculation and greater pressure that can be applied at different lean angles. This, in turn, allows the rider to brake later, thanks to the system’s ability to decelerate the bike to the point just before rear-wheel lock-up in the final phase of corner entry, as only a professional rider can.
The available modes are Track PRO and Track Expert. Both use the Post Run function that automatically maintains residual pressure on the rear brake after the front brake is released, simulating the technique of professional riders who use the rear brake to tighten the line. The two modes differ in the level of pressure they apply to the rear.
Dynamic Engine Brake Control (DEB)
The DEB (Dynamic Engine Brake) is the advanced new engine brake control system, the result of in-house Ducati development. It replaces the previous Engine Brake Control (EBC) and offers five levels of intervention (compared to the previous three) and even better performance thanks to the application of the DVO algorithm and a new strategy that combines management of the engine brake with that of the rear braking system.
The DVO allows the level of engine braking to be precisely calibrated, taking into account the estimated vertical load on the rear axle. The result is even more precise management of the forces acting on the tire, making engine braking more progressive and predictable.
At two of the five levels, the DEB automatically activates the rear brake, increasing the overall effect of the engine brake. The system continuously adapts the contribution of the rear brake and engine brake to the track conditions and to the load acting on the rear wheel.
From a dynamic standpoint, the DEB improves braking performance when leaned over as the front brake is released, while allowing the rider to tighten their line further on corner entry. It also ensures more consistent motorcycle behavior, enhancing rider confidence.
6.9” TFT
The Panigale V4 dashboard, with 6.9” color screen and 1280 x 480 resolution, sets new standards in terms of its readability, ease of use, and the amount of data it provides. The 8:3 aspect ratio increases the available data and insights and ensures excellent visibility even when tucked in behind the fairing. Thanks to the use of Optical Bonding technology, with graphics on a black background and glass protection, the aesthetic is impeccable and offers excellent visibility also during the day. The dash is controlled by an HMI that users two rocker controllers positioned on the left handlebar block.
RaceGP Info Mode*
The Race GP Info mode, included in the DAVC Race Pro software (not homologated for road use) is specifically designed for track riding sessions. It is available by installing the DAVC Race Pro software, an autonomous accessory, which allows the rider to fully exploit the bike’s potential with the race exhaust and slick/rain tires.
The Race GP mode presents a race layout (information relating to road homologation is removed); only information relevant to track use is displayed. Two quick-access menus can be activated via switches for the immediate management of various controls, while the white background maximizes visibility. *Function not approved for road use; intended exclusively for track use.
Grip Level Meter*
The Grip Level Meter, available by installing the DAVC Race Pro software (for track use only) helps the rider to understand the grip level at any precise moment by providing a tire grip estimate of low, medium or high. *Function not approved for road use; intended exclusively for track use.
