THE 2027 KTM 790 DUKE – EXPERIENCE THE MASTERY OF CONTROL

For 2027, the KTM 790 DUKE returns to the tarmac with a renewed focus on control.
Known in previous iterations as the sharpest tool for carving up apexes, the 2027 model has evolved to be even more masterful in its approach.

Immediately evident in its styling, the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE adopts the same aggressive stance as the KTM 990 DUKE and KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R. It features a redesigned headlight unit, streamlined bodywork, a larger front fairing, and a reshaped fuel tank.

Under the skin, the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE retains the proven, EURO 5+ compliant 799 cc LC8c parallel-twin powerplant, delivering 105 hp in the standard version and 95 hp in the A2 license compliant variant. A newly designed exhaust and muffler complete the package.

However, the biggest improvements in the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE focus on a completely reworked rider triangle. A new handlebar shape featuring a more open angle, repositioned rider and passenger footpegs, and an improved seat all work together to deliver a more natural, connected riding position. Despite its larger, more ‘grown-up’ appearance, a 2 kg weight reduction further enhances agility. These, together with a new subframe, new triple clamps, and a new tank design, further improve handling and ergonomics and provide excellent chassis and front-wheel feedback.

Most importantly, we listened and we acted. Rider feedback has been taken on board with intent, leading to the phased withdrawal of Demo Mode from future models. A clear decision, shaped by those who ride. At the same time, the tire specification has been upgraded to Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires, further strengthening the bike’s dynamic and rider-focused character.

High-specification components, including a WP steering damper, and all-new WP radial brakes are fitted as standard to further refine overall handling.

The new WP braking is a complete braking system developed in-house, marking a major step forward in rider-focused performance, offering improved braking power with less effort at the lever, a smooth, linear response without a harsh initial bite, and enhanced control and feel.

The suspension hasn’t been left untouched either, with the proven WP APEX hardware receiving an update at both ends. The WP APEX 43 mm open-cartridge upside-down front fork features 150 mm of suspension travel and implements split-function technology with adjustable compression and rebound damping. At the rear, an adjustable, gas-assisted WP APEX Monotube shock absorber features 170 mm of travel, offering adjustable rebound damping and preload for improved control.

The suspension is also adjustable via an easy-to-use 5-click dial, giving riders the confidence to fine-tune the bike to their own feel, ensuring a precise and controlled response without unnecessary complexity.

As a riding experience, the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE is steadfast in its ‘Cut on Command’ philosophy. It feels like a natural extension of its pilot, behaving and reacting in perfect synchronization with every input. As a machine, it retains the same apex-hunting agility and sharp handling DNA as before, but with an elevated Naked authority.

Said simply, the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE sets the new standard in the middleweight class.

A full range of KTM PowerParts and KTM PowerWear is also available for riders to personalize their motorcycles and get kitted out with READY TO RACE riding gear.

The 2027 KTM 790 DUKE will be available at authorized KTM dealers from end of July with availability varying by market.

TARGET LOCKED

TFT-DISPLAY

The 2027 KTM 790 DUKE features a 5-inch, bonded-glass TFT dashboard, delivering a clear and commanding view for the rider. An intuitive motorcycle infographic illustrates each menu function, clearly showing exactly what is being adjusted, while a streamlined menu structure makes for quick, effortless access to all features, requiring fewer clicks and allowing riders to stay focused on the ride.

REDUCED WITH PURPOSE

Bodywork

Purposefully naked and to the point. The 2027 KTM 790 DUKE ups the ante with enhanced rider-focused ergonomics, thanks to a larger front fairing and reshaped fuel tank. This provides riders with effective support, knee contact, and improved cornering stability and control. A redesigned headlight unit and cut-back bodywork add to its overall aggressive stance.

LIGHT UP THE DARKNESS

LED Headlight

Inspired by the KTM 990 DUKE and KTM 1390 SUPER DUKE R, the new headlight on the KTM 790 DUKE means business. Featuring what can best be described as “floating daytime running lights,” it presents a truly unique look while boosting rider visibility, while the dashboard-integrated light sensor ensures you’ll be never be caught in the dark.

POWER HUNGRY

Engine

Setting the benchmark for KTM’s parallel-twin performance, the LC8c, sitting at the heart of the KTM 790 DUKE, is one of the lightest and most compact parallel-twin engines in its segment. Forged around producing torque (87 Nm), it delivers smooth, usable power from low RPM while still providing an exhilarating top-end surge – right up to 105 PS at 9,500 rpm. It’s EURO 5+ too, thanks to an all-new full exhaust system, with a fuel consumption of only 4.6 l/100 km. In European markets, the KTM 790 DUKE is available in a 95 PS configuration, meeting A2 license requirements.

PICK YOUR POWER

Ride Modes

The 2027 KTM 790 DUKE has a Ride Mode ready to dominate just about any eventuality. In the default STREET setting, riders have full power, traction control, and limited front wheel lift, with easy throttle response and Road ABS. SPORT steps up the experience with sharper throttle control and some wheel slip, while RAIN mode does what it says on the box, providing maximum traction and reducing power from 105 PS to 95 PS in wet conditions. For the more daring, Supermoto ABS can be activated to allow for tire-smoking rear-wheel skids.

TRACK MASTER

TRACK PACK

Welcome to the pure essence of speed. Opting for the TRACK PACK on the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE unlocks the ultimate, immersive riding experience. Pilots can toggle TRACK Mode, Launch Control, and adjust Throttle Response, Anti-wheelie control, and MTC slip adjustment. The TRACK PACK also unlocks a Telementry screen on the dashboard, with a more in-your-face Lap timer for dedicated track attack sessions.

FAST TECH

TECH PACK

For the KTM 790 DUKE riders who crave all the performance and technology features, we give you the TECH PACK. This option gives you everything you’ll unlock with the TRACK PACK, with the added adjustment capability of Motor Slip Regulation, lighting-fast shifts with QUICKSHIFTER+, and Cruise Control for longer highway blasts.

RACE TO COMFORT

Ergonomics

Engineered to feel as compact as possible while accommodating a wide range of riders, the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE inspires confidence at every skill level. New riders will feel instantly at ease, while experienced riders are encouraged to push right to the ragged edge. A revised ergonomic triangle, updated seat design, repositioned footpegs, adjustable tapered handlebar, and refined bodywork work together to create a more active, comfortable, and controlled riding position, delivering exceptional feedback at all times.

TAKE A SEAT

Seat

The 2027 KTM 790 DUKE features a revised seat design, made to preserve its signature sporty ergonomics while enhancing everyday usability. To achieve this, the front of the seat has been made slimmer – for improved knee grip – while the rest of the seat maintains its width and padding for added comfort and control. The seat cover features a high-grip surface that allows controlled movement and is optimized for use with both textile and leather riding gear. Lower PowerPart seat options are also available for shorter riders.

FIND YOUR FOOTING

Footpegs

While the footpegs themselves remain unchanged, their position has been adjusted, moved 2 mm backward and 7 mm upward, to deliver a more engaged, sporty riding posture. A newly designed black-anodized, forged footpeg carrier features integrated heel guards, offering a cleaner and more refined look, with reverse race shifting possible without any additional parts.

THE BACKBONE

Frame

The frame has been engineered with a relentless focus on weight reduction. By using the engine as a load-bearing element, material is minimized without compromising strength or rigidity. The use of lightweight Chromium Molybdenum (CroMo) tubular steel further reduces mass, keeping the frame exceptionally light and compact. Frame stiffness has been precisely tuned to deliver a sharp, sporty ride with outstanding feedback, ensuring the rider always feels connected to exactly what the bike is doing.

PIVOT POINT

Swingarm

The KTM 790 DUKE features a die-cast, open-lattice swingarm that is precision-engineered for optimal stiffness and stability, while maintaining the ideal level of flex for responsive handling. A direct rear-shock linkage reduces complexity and part count, delivering a cleaner, lighter, and more efficient design.

SPRING INTO ACTION

Fork

An adjustable 43 mm open cartridge upside-down front fork from WP Suspension takes care of any front wheel articulation, using split function technology. This means that compression and rebound damping take place in separate fork legs, thanks to an easy-to-use 5-click system that makes setting up your ride easier than ever. With 5-click adjustability for both compression damping (left fork) and rebound damping (right fork) to fine-tune the perfect setup. The fork springs are also progressive, ensuring smooth operation throughout the fork stroke: softer at the initial stroke and harder later in the stroke to prevent bottoming out.

MAX TRACTION

Rear Shock

Making sure the rear wheel behaves when the going gets fast is a 5-click rebound and preload adjustable, high-quality gas-assisted WP APEX rear shock, featuring progressive spring and preload adjustment. This means the KTM 790 DUKE maintains a sporty ride quality, while still being comfortable enough for longer trips.

ROLLING THUNDER

Wheels and Tires

Ultra lightweight alloy wheels and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires show the 2027 KTM 790 DUKE’s intent, and commitment to valuable customer feedback. Not only do these lightweight wheels make the bike lighter overall, but they also minimize unsprung masses, while the high-performance sport tires combine exceptional all-weather grip, handling, and stability with impressive mileage.

STOPPING POWER

Brakes

The 2027 KTM 790 DUKE is equipped with an all-new WP braking system, developed entirely in-house. Featuring twin 300 mm floating front discs paired with 4-piston, radially mounted calipers upfront, and a 240 mm disc and single-piston caliper at the rear, this latest WP brake setup delivers a significant step forward in rider-focused performance.

ONE-PIECE CONSTRUCTION

Sub-frame

An all-new cast aluminium subframe design combines structural innovation with bold styling, reducing weight and boosting airflow, rigidity, and durability – here’s how. Everything is cast in a single, seamless piece, with aggressive, deep-breathing integrated side air intakes. The entire airbox is also housed within the subframe, optimizing packaging and lowering the bike’s center of gravity, improving airflow by channelling more cool air directly into the engine.
